Explosion at boston marathon

A friend of a friend helped the sister of Martin Richard, the 8 year old who died. She lost a leg in the bombings.

So I wonder if these are related. A letter that tested positive for the poison ricin was mailed to a US Senator. And today one was received at the White House addressed to Obama.

We also had a major power substation taken down in California yesterday due to a high power rifle shooting into the main transformer.

Probably unrelated, but all these little things add up. The letters could have been sent the same day as the bombings and only arrived yesterday and today.

I ce anyone was curious, the circuitry and battery found don't give me any clues. The circuit board contains a bunch of passive components, resistors, capacitors, etc, but the isn't enough left of it to give a function or suggest what it came from. I suspect the federal authorities already have a good idea what type of product or device it came out of already, and are narrowing down what is was before it was repurposed.

The battery in the pictures is part of a rechargeable battery pack strong enough to start the blast.

Where was that info?

Photos of the circuit board, pressure cooker lid, backpack, and battery which may be related to one or the other of the bombs can be found via google image searches. Restrict results to the last 24 hours, and search for Boston marathon circuit, or battery, or bomb.

The substation doesn't bother me much, though its obviously aiming at a regional technical workforce, so perhaps an effort to damage the tech sector and thus the economy... Maybe?

But the ricin laced letters are worrisome.

Still think the bombs are domestic, though. If they were international someone would be claiming success, and no one is.

You know what I think? I think 4chan is going to help solve this. They have exhaustively looked at pictures of the event and are painstakingly looking at evidence. It's frankly amazing what they've seen in the hours of footage.[DOUBLEPOST=1366217893][/DOUBLEPOST]Feds have said a few things that I like:

"This will take weeks, not months to solve." and "Substantial progress has been made in the probe."

The substation strikes me as a wanton act of vandalism, perhaps rooted in a general sentiment of either antitech or anarchy in general.

As for the boston bombs... as I said I also think a domestic individual is responsible, but as for whether it's simply an act of misanthropy or a political statement it may be too soon to tell - if the bomber released a statement it might take longer to get out seeing as how the US generally doesn't have an official channel for delivering manifestos, apparently unlike some other countries. Any thought on motive would just be wild speculation at this point.

Well it's about time. Boston isn't as bad as the uk in terms of CCTV surveillance, but I imagine that whoever placed the bags wouldn't go unnoticed in camera footage recovered from individuals and businesses nearby.[DOUBLEPOST=1366219092][/DOUBLEPOST]
More letters, this time to Sen. McCain and Sen. Flake.
So far, other than Obama, the people these letters were addressed to have been republicans?

I just hope they don't pull another Richard Jewel (sp?) or Steven Hatfill. Those guys' lives were ruined forever thanks to "leaks" and being wrongly accused in the eyes of the media.

That's a big yep.

The other reason to believe its a lone actor is that federal authorities have stopped many other group efforts at terror attacks over the last decade.

I suspect only a single person or small group that only every met face to face and never used modern technology to communicate plans would have been able to carry this out. It's a small enough attack, though, that it could have easily been managed by one person.

When you put wicker, flake, and McCain together in google, you get immigration bills and gun bills.

But why Obama? He hasn't signed anything these three have been particularly involved in recently, though he has been pushing both immigration and gun issues forward.

Arrest has been made. CNN[DOUBLEPOST=1366221380][/DOUBLEPOST]It is like the bus bombings in England, they caught the suspects in 2 days also.

I guess all the, "this investigation is in its infancy..." was to lull the suspect into complacency.

It breaks my heart to see people vilifying Muslims because of a small, extremist minority group (small in comparison to all devote Muslims). It'd be like vilifying every single Christian whenever the Westboro Baptist Church says or does something stupid.

Which is, you know, ANY time Westboro says or does something.

According to Fmr. Asst. FBI Director Tom Fuentes, they have a picture of a suspect. They have no ID, they have not made an arrest.
