[PC Game] Civilization V: Let's Conquer the World

God, I wish.

Okay, I've tagged anyone who expressed even passing interest, so here's my idea. If most of you don't have the DLC, we should be able to play just ... regular... type... Anyway. We'll all have to be online at the same time for the initial set-up, I think, and if we have time for an hour or two of turns, that'd be nice to get through the early game grind of nothing. But then we'll be able to step away, log in, and take turns daily or whatever, and (hopefully?) have a longer session once a week. I'm thinking Sundays, but Saturdays are good for me too. So, if you're in, let me know.

I'd like to get the set-up tomorrow, hopefully that's enough time for anyone tagged to check-in. It's also not too late to join.

I'd be dragging the tempo down massively - the combination of my work hours (incl weekends) and different time zone (go go team Europe!), as well as the fact that I currently don't have a pc that can run Civ V (laptop crashfest), make me think it's a good idea not to participate this time around. Sprry, but I do look forward to updates on the soul crushing and driving of women and whatnot.

Same here, except I'm in Asia instead of Europe.

I'm still interested... but I only just read this and I'm not sure if you've set the game up already.

I don't have the DLC by the way.

Is there a way to force a turn to complete even if people haven't checked in that day?

So, let's say Saturday, 7:00 Pacific to get this started?

And yes. I can set a turn-timer with a 24hr (or whatever) countdown. If everyone makes their turns, the next turn starts, but if one or more people don't make their turns, the turn completes and switches over after the countdown.

I'm still in, and I have one DLC (Gods and Kings).
Sundays are better than Saturdays for extended sessions, though I do work Sunday mornings, and am on Pacific time.

They kinda fucked up. Brave New World was on 10% off presale, then day one of Steam Summer Sale it was on an even bigger discount; which basically made all the presale buyers (like me!) suckers. So Steam apologised, and took it off sale and promised it wouldn't go on sale again. As recompense they gave all the presale buyers a copy of Civ IV, which seems silly to me, since, probably most of them had it. Anyway I got to gift it to Drifter so it wasn't in waste.

Doesn't that happen all the time with Steam though? Buying something only to have it get deeply discounted two days later? I thought it'd come with the territory.

I mean, yeah, if they applied the same logic to preorder discounts too, people would probably never preorder again, so I understand why they did it. I guess it was just bad timing for Brave New World to hit the virtual shelves right before the Summer Sale.

Here's hoping it goes down over Christmas.

No, I agree, those risks definitely come with the territory. But, Steam sent out a message to all the preorder folk stating that it was a mistake, so... *shrug*

I really want to do this....I might be able to....I dont work tomorrow morning which is Sunday evening your time, at least, I'm not working monday morning for the time being. A month from now? I don't know. 7PM PST is 10AM Beijing time Monday morning---I'll think about it.

Horray for flexible work hours. I'm good whenever (post-noon on Sundays), everything else is flexible.

I am on call this week, so may get pulled away, but it's highly unlikely.

We had two players drop out so if you wanted to take over for Arabia (a continent with Terrik & I) or India (?) (with Rev, Azure and a random nonforum guy who joined) you could do that. I'll add you to Steam ce soir.

I will happily take over either locale... I'll try Arabia, don't think I've played them yet.
