Halforum Minecraft Server

Minecraft related, but not on the HF server. Noah built a model of Mount Cavora from The Legends of Chima in his and Lily's Minecraft world. It looks really good.

This is what it looks like on the show:

I'm going to have Aussie get a few screen shots of Noah's creation later. Of course, as I started posting it he decided the eagle needed to be redone and destroyed it's head.

Well it makes sense, since I'm sure they want to push the Win10 version on more people, and it's essentially PE.

On that note, everybody here make an account if you haven't already, and vote up this issue: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-9357

On touchscreens, "reverse Y-axis" is BROKEN. It has been since the 0.12 beta days. Works for controllers/mice, but not touchscreens anymore. STILL NOT FIXED.

Now in case this isn't a big deal for you, or you think it isn't a game-breaking bug because you don't use it, please follow this procedure:
  1. Log into regular minecraft on your PC, or any FPS you enjoy playing
  2. Flip that switch for reverse y-axis so that it's opposite to what you're used to
  3. Proceed to attempt to play
  4. Follow my advice for how game-breakingly critical it is to get this bug fixed, since you will now understand the pain of the other side.
Thank you. I'm not the original reporter on that one.

It's Dynmap. I actually switched the server to running on spigot. If I get some more time I may try to set up a multi world plugin going.

I'm flabbergasted that Bukkit/Spigot is actually running on a current version of the game. The biggest amount of whining that happened back when I was administrating the halforums minecraft server was how it always had to lag a version behind while the bukkit people struggled for months to update to the new version, lest the mods break (and back then, there were non-trivial mods - IE, mods that improved framerate/prevented infinite fire spread, etc)

The incremental releases seem to get updated pretty quick. The major ones take a while. When 1.9 comes out I may drop back to vanilla until it's done. With the snapshots out as long as they are, you'd think it wouldn't be a huge issue.

If you have a kid that's into minecraft, mojang is participating in the Hour of Code. I had a sick kid yesterday and put her to work on that instead of watching TV all day. She seemed to enjoy it. They have a bunch of other themed coding tutorials as well.

So I looked today seriously at the Realms, mainly because I still love Minecraft, but I've been really bored with it. I logged on today and found out that they have a 30 day demo. Neat, thought I. I'll see what they look like.

I was shocked. Not only can you set up 3 different worlds, but you can also have mini-games! So we could have (theoretically), our current world, a brand new world, an adventure world...and a mini-game world for anywhere from 1 - 8 players. You can have 10 players total so I don't know if this is too few for us, but I'm seriously thinking about doing it.

Thoughts?[DOUBLEPOST=1450294940,1450294906][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh, and if anyone is around (now or tonight) maybe we can test it out? See what you see?

lets do this, i havent played minecraft in years.

I've had a realms before. I think that at our peak we've had more than 10, and I'm wondering if they actually gave you three separate servers now or if it's the same as it was and you can swap maps but only have one active at a time.

You have one active at a time, from what it looks like. What we need to find out is, if I make it, can I set it for someone else to be an admin as well? In other words, can we have multiple people be able to switch it?

I know you can "op" other users in realms, but I think that only gives them access to in-game moderator commands (fly, tp, kick/ban etc)... I don't know if it lets them swap the maps/slots or not.

Okay, Bones and I poked around and here's my thoughts.

  • Users are by invite only. You can invite up to 200 but only 10 can be on at any given time.
  • You get 3 worlds + 1 mini-game world and only I can switch between them.
  • I can set as many people as I want to be able to use console commands, but that's all they could do. Although it was fun to type in /kill mikessoul and hear him yell as he fell through the world.
  • Adventure maps are super cool.
  • Mini games are super cool.
  • There are tons of mini games and adventure modes preprogrammed, and they indicate the number of people.
  • A number of them are single player, so aren't that useful. Bones came in one that I was doing and at first it looked like anybody new was in spectator mode. Then it went nuts and broke.
  • Each time I change the world, it kicks everyone out. So we all will have to be on a world.
I think I'm going to buy this. It's not much each month and I think it would really go far to helping with the "Minecraft boredom overload" that sometimes happens. Like if we all are getting a bit bored we can switch and do a 10 person adventure through the Pyramids of Giza or something like that. It's also got PvP so we can have game nights where we fight to the DEATH!

The only issue I see would be if someone didn't want to quit our current world. I mean, we could load it there as well, but I'm not trying to replace a server, merely get things going again activity-wise.

Again, what are your thoughts on it?

If you want an invite, let me know what your name is in Minecraft.[DOUBLEPOST=1450306253,1450306242][/DOUBLEPOST]Right now it's on Adventure mode.

So when you bopped in did you see a chest filled with helpful stuff? I just went there and it's GONE!
I popped in at night, went to look at the chest of helpful stuff, and promptly got blown up by a creeper. I claimed most of the stuff that was left and went into the shed to wait for day, then lost my internet for a while. I'll put it back when I log in next.

Damned creepers! I thought maybe I'd put it in a bad place.

There's more stuff in the Mines, which are directly behind you when you log in.

I ran around for a bit today and built a house/mine/portal.
On the adventure server? We're going to have to make a night where we start to do the adventures. Three or four in a group could do it, I think. I went to Stonehenge and got myself brutally killed.
