In this game, facial scars count as disfigurement and cause a -15 penalty to your social standing with all the other colonists. Less "cool knife scar" and more "The Hound's horrifying burns." Null, Thynne, myself and a couple others now all have them. I'm in the process of trying to find enough plasteel to make bionic eye replacements for us, because bionic eyes aren't offputting at all, apparently.Awwww, face scars are cool. All I did was rescue someone from a fire...</humblebrag>

HALFORUMS HOUSE: RIMWORLD - PART 3
Jug 13, cotd - Dei's Muffalo, Juliette, miscarries due to injuries sustained fighting the crypt centipede. Dodge sets about burning a huge cache of Luciferium found in the crypt before anybody else can get into trouble with it. Charon's burns were not particularly well-dressed, and he contracts an infection.

Jug 15 - The groundwork is laid for an infirmary. No beds yet, but at least the colony will start to be able to manufacture its own medicine.
Septober 1 - Dave and Dei become lovers.

Sept 6 - Dolly, Far's husky, has two puppies, Celia and Newton. A boomrat goes mad. It attacks CynKat, and her Spelopede defends her. It blows up, setting both of them on fire. Fortunately, it is raining. Unfortunately, her face is disfigured by a scar. Another caravan must be sent to buy supplies. Frank, Bubble, Celt Z and Dei leave with the muffalo and all the sculptures they can carry.

Sept 7 - The caravan is attacked by 7 pirates. The Muffalo are critically injured, and the caravan has to stop and make camp. They're not too far out from home, though, so Terrik, Gas, and Jun head out to bring them medicine and food. Unfortunately, Dei's muffalo does not survive its blood loss, and Dei's own injuries become infected. The trip to town must be aborted, and the wounded must be carried home so they can heal safely.

Sept 8 - A pack of manhunting grizzly bears attacks the colony. The militia manages to take it down, though Grifter catches a friendly fire graze. Later that night, Far dumps Emrys at dinner. There is no apparent reason. She hates him now.

Sept 10 - Silence, the last Muffalo, finally develops an immunity to its infection. It was a close call, but he will survive. The task of replacing Juliette, however, will be a long and arduous one. The cryptosleep caskets found in the ancient crypt are opened, inside are found a dead body, and a live person. Closer inspection of the live occupant reveals she is a luciferium addict (and a pyromaniac). A horrifying prospect. Fortunately, a pirate tradeship is in orbit, and both the addict and her stash of deadly luciferium are sold. Everyone's a little uncomfortable with the fact that they basically just sold someone into slavery.

Sept 11 - When he thinks nobody is looking, Ravenpoe butchers the dead body that was found in the crytposleep casket. Somebody noticed. Word spreads, and everyone (Except Wasabi) is horrified.

Sept 12 - A cold snap rolls in. The crops are hurriedly harvested even before being fully grown, lest they die to the cold and be completely wasted. That night, Putt-Putt, JWhouk's husky, has a heart attack, but miraculously walks it off. Tough girl.
Sept 14 - The hard snows set in. Hopefully the colony has enough food to make it through the winter.
Sept 15 - The cold snap ends, but winter proper begins.
Decembruary 1 - A poison ship crashes out in the hinterlands and must be dealt with. There's not enough resources to make sandbags around it, so trees and rocks have to do for cover. The fight is violent and dangerous, and Snuffles takes a chargelance shot to the chest, destroying his sternum and his life. He is interred next to Tinwhistler in a sarcophagus, the artwork for which depicts Snuffles writing his masterwork novel, which is still in the storage room.

I don't think I understand how the social cloud is generated. At first I thought it was "more popular people in the center," but now I don't know. So, if your character is on the outer rim of the cloud, don't think that means you don't necessarily have friends.
I DO know it only bothers drawing green lines for friendships over 50 (even if they are one sided, as most of Celt Z's are - notice most of her outgoing arrows are gray).
A relationship is considered "friend" if a pawn has +20 social toward another. -20 makes it a rivalry. The scale goes from -100 to 100. Any romantic relationship that falls below 30 is generally in danger of coming apart.

Jesus my pawn is a terrible person. Insulting people and getting in fist fights when people are offended by the insults and then dropping Emerys for nothing. At least the puppies will be a welcome addition until they start over running the place.

I have to say, there's a flaw with how this game handles gay characters. I don't know for sure this is what is happening to you, but in the past I have noticed that a gay character doesn't check to make sure their target is also gay before hitting on them. So, it's likely that every time you start to get real friendly with a gal, it might be the case you try to initiate a romance which is then shot down for being incompatible, and ends up with hurt feelings on both sides.
I am pretty sure it is using a standard network display method that places people in the most convenient spot for drawing the edges connecting the nodes. Nothing more than that

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention in the update... the colony, upon noticing that the surrounding area is overflowing with boomalopes at the moment, is now attempting to tame and train them to be front line fighters. Next batch of pirate raiders is gonna be in for a little surprise.
