PART 4 - rounding out the year.
Dec 3 - A psychic wave sweeps over the area, soothing the mind of all male colonists. And then a group of pirate raiders arrive. Gryfter's father is among them. They break through the north wall, and a shootout commences. There's some injuries taken, but no casualties. Terrik gets hit by friendly fire from Frank. Frank himself absorbed a surprising amount of LMG fire. Celt Z was the one to gun down Gryfter's father, and in so doing earned the son's enmity. Dave's husky, "Puppy," who is actually full-grown, loses her tail. DarkAudit bandages Puppy up, and the two form a bond. As Dave has not done so yet, he gives the dog to DA. This victory means a good number of gun upgrades among the militia, including sniper rifles. Gas Bandit also pockets the grenades, and Terrik is given EMP grenades.

Dec 4 - As they convalesce, Dave pops the question to Dei. Bit soon there, don'tcha think? Dei certainly does, and turns him down. We shall see if their relationship survives.

Dec 5 - A group of passing pilgrims has more surprise family members among them - Kags' father, and Zappit's.. WIFE?!
Dec 6 - Early in the morning, a solar flare knocks out all electric devices for most of the day. A cougar gets into the compound and attacks Bellboy, the lab. GasBandit and SpecialKO take it down. TommiR insults Poe, and they get into a fistfight in the dining hall. They beat each other up pretty good. Then around noon, Mind Detective insults Dirona and sets her off. They scuffle, and by the time it is over, she's torn off two fingers from his left hand! Yowza. It makes Dirona feel a little better, but MD is understandably pissed at her. Between the raids and the fights, the colony is running out of good medicine. There's plenty of herbal stuff left, and they could make some more real medkits if the cotton crop would just come in.

Dec 8 - One of Bront and Putt-Putt's puppies, Debt, is eaten by a Warg. Paddy the lynx also suffers a wargbite. Bert and Bront go out to deal with the warg. The warg attacks when Bert's pistol fire first hits it, and he runs back toward the colony, with Bront biting at the warg as it chases his master. Charon finishes it off when BErt makes it back to the wall. That night, while both are out trying to tame boomrats, Zero insults Wasabi and she takes a swing at him. Unfortunately for her, Zero's much better at fisticuffs, and he takes a couple bumps while she needs medical treatment.

Dec 9 - Ash clouds fill the sky. A volcanic winter chokes off the sun... right in the middle of regular winter. This could be a problem. Gruebeard and Kags become lovers and move in together. That night, Cog and Gryfter go at it. WHAT is WITH everybody lately?! Fortunately, they come to their senses pretty quickly, before any real injury occurs.

Dec 11 - Early in the morning, a herd of maneating Caribou enter the area. The Militia tries to deal with them, but BErt foolishly goes out on his own, and is caught unawares. He is set upon by 3 caribou and stomped into unconsciousness. Once the threat is dealt with, Adam rescues him... but BErt has lost his left arm. One of the Muffalos are tamed, and Dei is made her master.

Dec 13 - A Boomrat goes mad, and charges into the colony way early in the morning. It attacks Frank, but when it is killed is when the most damage is done - it explodes all over him. Fortunately, the burns aren't too bad, and he just has to spend most of the day recouperating in the infirmary. He gets out just in time - a hostile tribal raid arrives and attacks! The dumb savages stumble across one of the trained boomalopes and get a face-full of fiery ouch for their numbskullery. Then they wander into the killbox and get a great big heapin' helpin of industrial tech in the form of a hail of gunfire, cutting down half of them before they are completely demoralized and flee. No Halforumites are wounded at all. Three captives are taken, with the intent to treat and release them to help bolster relations with the tribe.

Dec 14 - Despite having a rose garden grown specifically for the purpose, Celt Z and GenSpec decide to hold their wedding ceremony in the dining hall. I guess that's where all the food is. Everyone has a grand time, and it's the social event of the year. A huge dent is put in the food reserves.

Dec 15 - One of the captives dies of an infection. The other two were more successfully stabilized, and their release went some way to beginning to mend fences with their tribe. BErt and Emrys become lovers.

Aprimay 1, 5501 - Dave calls off the relationship with Dei, never having gotten over his proposal being rejected. The food supplies run out, and the emergency rations have to be invaded again.

Not picking any fights and managing to not get shot
she's part of the militia but so far has avoided injury for the most part. Just living life, doing her jobs, and managing to be fairly happy. She's one of the few people who's good enough at medicine/crafting to make medkits, which is important. Also she's getting to be a pretty good hunter.[DOUBLEPOST=1501856217,1501855711][/DOUBLEPOST]
Dei's in the bed for the moment, but if she doesn't find somebody else to shack up with pretty quick, it's likely she'll have to move back down to a single, too, to make room for whoever the next couple is that needs it

We need a lot of plasteel in a big ol' hurry for prosthetics/bionics.
Unfortunately, we need food in an even bigger hurry. Now that the rice is more or less gone, and regrowing slower because of the volcanic winter, there's only about 3 days (give or take) worth of packaged survival meals left from when we crashed. I'm trying to set up sun lamps and hydroponic bays, but metal and electricity is really at a premium (we had to get through the winter with wood fires because we didn't have the resources to build heaters).
The winter month is technically over, but with the volcanic ash, spring will be cold and dim - which is not good for plant growth. If something doesn't turn around, I anticipate a desperate situation in the next update.
