Favorite Bands You've Never Seen

I don't mean live, I mean your favorite bands that you've never actually set eyes on in any way. It suddenly struck me that ever since I gave up MTV (mostly because MTV gave up music), I have all these bands I love but have never visibly seen. Hell, half my examples aren't even bands anymore. My examples:

Remy Zero
Grandaddy
Villebillies
The Residents (not really my fault, but still)

T

The Pumes

Fleet Foxes
The Black Keys
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Franz Ferdinand

Talking Heads
Sex Pistols - I saw PiL and they played some Pistols' songs, but it does not really count.
The Clash - Same story but it was Big Audio Dynamite.

I did get to see, The Cult, Oingo Boingo on their last tour, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Phil Collins (hey, he kinda sucks, but it was an awesome concert.)

I assume that either you are referring to the Talking Heads that are not your avatar, or you did not read the OP.

I will actually assume the former, because the latter would make me sad and I hate it when I cry at work.

eh, I'm a skimmer. Fine.

Sun Volt
Lucinda Williams
BR549
Shriekback
Townes Van Zandt - Mostly know him through cover songs done by other artists. He was in a Willie Nelson music video once, but I don't remember what he looks like.

Koko

-Nearly every reggae artist
-Gov't Mule
-O.A.R.
-Bad Company
-Styx
-The Moody Blues
-Grand Funk Railroad
-Supertramp

off the top of my head

Ya, Grand Funk, I have no idea what they look like.
I know what George Clinton looks like, but have no idea what the rest of Parliament Funkadelic looks like.

Bach, Beethoven, Brahmas, Wagner...

TooL

I've seen videos of theirs and even ones of them in concert, but could not make out any faces. I have no idea what any of them, even Maynard, actually looks like.

I'm too much of a music nerd. If I listen to the band I look up info on them on Wikipedia or their websites.

And to further misinterpret the point of this thread:
Flogging Molly
The Darkness
Oingo Boingo
Great Big Sea

Nightwish (with Tarja Turunen. I refuse to see them with that... that Swede singing!)
Clannad
The High Kings

When in Ireland, I did get to see the Chieftains perform. Woot!

I'm with CK, if I like a band I will look them up. I can tell you the band that supprised me most when I did see what they looked like Silversun Pickups.

Here's a hint, the lead singer is NOT the one on the far right.

Really, unless they're shoved in my face, I don't know what most bands look like. I don't watch music videos much any more and download what I think sounds good.

I'm wracking my brains but I can't think of much. I find most new bands through YouTube, and I know what all my favorite bands/artists look like, so I'm mostly drawing a blank. I guess I don't know what all the guys look like in Digital Underground except for Shock G, and that's only because he was in a Funkadelic documentary. I guess there's probably some metal bands whose members I'm not overly visually familiar with.

Edit: I have no idea what Jurassic 5 looks like. I saw some live clips, once, but they were recorded far back in the audience with bad quality, so you couldn't really make out the band.

Most of them. I don't really seek out the videos or images. No offense, but if I'm listening you your music, I don't need to know what you look like.

Chronos[Ha-G]

Before I mention this, lemme preface this: When I was a kid, and getting rides to and fro from either my mother or father, I'd listen to whatever they had on the radio, since it was their car - their music. And I really didn't have a huge concept of who all these people were on the radio - nor did I ever know their faces, or band make-up, or what have you.

For years, I thought ZZ Top was 1 black dude.

T

TwoBit

Rebelution
Heiruspecs
Butterfingers
The Crystal Method
Massive Attack (except for Tricky)

I can't think of any more.
