[TV] Winter HAS COME! - A Game of Thrones

This show is fuckin' pimpin'. Tyrion's a goddamn beast.

Also, I love how they did Syrio Forel.
I would so totally watch a prequel show dedicated to his adventures!

Considering the amount of underage sex the series would otherwise have onscreen, I am totally okay with them aging up the characters.

I prefer this Tyrion one.

Instead of watching loras suck a dong, why couldn't I have seen more of the vale and the gates that make it so hard to breach, or why not show me more of Sansa's interactions with the Hound, or hell, how about show the damned direwolves once in a while.
Well, to be fair, we didn't see much! Though there was some audible slurpage. IDK, it'd be great if they showed more of the direwolves, but supposedly the dogs they used were hard to train.

Still the raddest moment of the series, for my money!

But they didn't age up Daenerys (well they did her body). They state she is 13. The growth of Jon and Rob and the guidance they're given by characters seem out of place when they're ~17 years old. Or when Sansa whines to her mother.

They said Sansa was 13, Daenerys wasn't said, but we know she was born during the revolution which happened 17 years prior.

So what did everyone think about the unnecessary lesbian scene in tonight's episode? I mean, I like a good lesbian scene as much as the next guy, but it seemed forced and just a reason for Cameron from Ferris Beuller to give exposition. The scene was 10 minutes long!

Why, HBO? Why?
Well using it to help with exposition of a characters motivation was actually a step up from previous sex scenes...

It was a good scene. Plus I nearly fucking died when he said
'Play with her ass!'
so offhandedly.

This.

That scene gave important back story for Littlefinger and given what happens later in the episode I think it was important to reveal the info. Plus it had already been established that Rose was heading to King's Landing to get a big city brothel job, it makes sense that she'd have to audition.

Of course the brazilian wax in pseudo-medieval times bothered the hell out of me.... especially for a more rural whore...

Whores historically kept their business shaved. It keeps the Crabs Down. That is the whole reason the Merkin was invented.

I have a problem with the scene in the sense that I could never imagine "book" Littlefinger giving exposition to a couple of whores. However, I guess they need some way to explain his motivations to people who haven't read the books, but I still think it's pretty gratuitous.

It seems to me they're going out of their way to exclude direwolves. This past episode was the first to feature a direwolf at all in quite a while (I was disappointed that no throatripping occurred during the "Bran is threatened by wildlings" scene), and I suspect they only did so because they couldn't come up with another way of a wight hand being found.

Everything I've read has said that the dogs are very hard to work with which is very, very unfortunate.

Not only that but they look like dogs and not wolves. So when they add them they still look like crap.

It will matter to me a lot more when they get to the 2nd season to be honest. While the wolves are around in Book 1, they don't have as big of a role outside of what they already made sure to use them for. (Summer ripping out that guy's throat, Lady and Nymeria on the road, and Ghost finding the wight hand). I also wonder if they are going to write Rickon back into the plot come Season 2.

I JUST started watching last night, and have never read the books. Holy crap. I have lots to catch up on.

And the Wire is rightly regarded as one of the best dramas of all time.
This is the worst review I have ever heard or read of the Wire. I literally, up to this point, have never heard anyone refer to it as anything but the SINGLE greatest television show of all time. It makes me afraid to watch it. I fell like I would not be able to enjoy any television anymore if I did.

I am, because we get to see Tyrion and Bronn owning the show some more. (seriously the best characters right there)

Let's face it, the majority of the viewers of this show are going to be people who have never read the books before, and probably won't bother even if they enjoy the show.
I haven't read the books and I'm still loving it.
This, and what's more, of the 5 other people I know are watching it (and loving it), at least 3 of them (and myself) WILL be reading the books. We're waiting until season 1 ends.

Just think about how disappointed these people must be. They think they are here for the child porn and all they get is words!
