So it has nothing to do with the game itself, but the server capacity for stable servers. Got it.

Probably just a bonus for early birds. I imagine they'll open another wave of preorders after this wave is done, but it'll just be a standard get-it-when-the-actually-releases-whenever-that-is affair.

I order the collector's edition from Gamestop online, but more than likely I'll order another one at the store itself (safer I think) plus I know the manager there.

Hmmmmm. You know I may have to check this one out. MAYBE. I read this on the wiki and cringed:

Players' choices will permanently open or close storylines and affect players' NPC companions
I have yet to see an MMO developer that can manage the kind of balance that will require and not eventually capitulate to the whining masses. It's like they have never heard of min/max
And good lord the space combat is going to be a tunnel shooter.....

Still though, I'll withold judgement. I'm just concerned that Bioware's poor conception of Sandbox vs Decision tree will make the game progression very boring.

I am still excited, but yea. I can see if people makes BAD decision and lock out of that companion.

Maybe there will change it to make it "semi-permenant" i.e. allow doing MANY quests to regain their favor (probably would be better with faction/personal recognition style) but of course if you gain one, you lose another and CAN'T have them all.

I think you each get to make the decision, but the majority will win out, however, if you chose to say, spare a life and the team votes such that guy was still killed, you earn the light side points (not sure about faction/rep), even though that character is now dead for you.

Good, I don't care if some hoity toighty jedi namby pamby would be a better min/max companion. If my mass murdering bounty hunter had to carry that along with her? I'd just shoot myself.

EA sure has that internet thing figured out.

Check out this madness:

The neogaffer that spoke with their tech support confirmed that that indeed is a surcharge for the joy of pre-ordering through ORIGINS.

Those prices are inFUCKINGsane.

You don't get a whole hell of a lot with that collector's edition either. Some shitty plastic statue and a soundtrack disc? A bunch of useless ingame items. That is terrible.

At least when 2K charged near that for the Bioshock special edition we got that amazing Big Daddy resin statue.

I'm so torn! I really want to try this but between school and work, I'll have so little time that investing the monthly fee for only a few hours of play... I'd probably only play it during Christmas/Spring/Summer breaks, and I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it at that slow a pace.

But they have to give it out sooner or later. They can't "not tell" forever. I mean customers will want to know.
Yes but they can wait until the development cycle for significant new competing content is too short.

Edit: It would be amusing if Blizzard just produced huge new content releases and then just sat on them until a competitor, confident in their timetable, announced their new MMO and then... BAM! Massive content release for WoW.

Heh. It is a good possibility. WoW team is constantly producing stuff and maybe might have a couple of items (on the shelf) to combat competition.

Not sure I believe that; Blizzard seems to take a long time producing anything, and only in the past couple years have they even been able to get releases out on their announced date.

Not to mention, Guild Wars 2 will not be too far behind The Old Republic. Blizzard can steal the newcomers from one with a new release, but I doubt they'll have another waiting in the wings so soon.

Problem is? October is Blizzcon. Since there was no expansion info last year, there WILL be some this year.

They'd be smart to release based on the info released then. Release before the WoW xpac and they're off to a good start.

Expansion info for an expansion in 2012, while they seem to intend on a holiday 2011 release--I think announcing the date after BlizzCon might be wiser, let that be the newer news story, but I'm no marketing guru, so I may have no idea.

You're leaving that at 666 hours, aren't you?

We won't see the new WoW xpac till 2012 for sure, that's usually how they do it. Announce in October, release around Feb/March.

If Star Wars can do something big before then, they'll be alright. If not, they better hope they wait a few months after March till "New Xpac syndrome" wears off.

(I'm already way past the 666 mark now, probably around 680. Glad I managed to notice that timer with enough opportunity to screen cap it)

You think Feb/March 2012 for WoW's next expansion? That seems really tight to me, looking at their timeline. BC was January 2007, then Lich King in November 2008, a year and ten months, and then Cata in December 2010, two years and a month. I can't see Blizzard getting another expansion out after only another 14-15 months. Unless you mean a patch a la Black Temple or whatnot. That I could totally see.

I'm pretty sure this is exactly what will happen.

My wife and I just place our pre-order in store. So we can play together (we play SWG for 2 years before we quit)
