It's mainly because pretty much everyone involved with the game kinda wishes it didn't exist. It was a rushed product, with incomplete quests, story branches, dialog, and more. Which is sad because the story is still hands down one of the best from Bioware/Obsidian, rivaling that of Planescape: Torment... which makes sense, as both were written by the same person.

KotOR 1 was just as bugged at the start for me...

And #2 was great until the final 1/4th or 1/5th of the game... after the meeting with the masters it starts being unfinished...

But i really doubt that's it... it's not like Steam doesn't have games that are buggy...

Please... Steam sells games that just plain don't work. I got Ghost Master during the Halloween sale and it doesn't work, period. I've tried updating, I've tried a No CD crack... and the only thing that seems to work 100% of the time doesn't seem to be around anymore.

I thought the story behind kotor 2 was far better than one, and hold it as one of my favorite games, ever.

It just doesn't have an ending, which sucks.

Hm... works just fine for me.

But I still can't get Vampire The Masquerade to run, even with patches, so just goes to show you never know how legacy games are going to react to new OS's

If you're going to buy an old game, I find it best to check GOG first. I've never had any issue with any of their releases on modern hardware.

Servers are down until the midnight launch.

Is this what the world looks like? Real life seems so strange.

I need to take a nap and eat while I can.

Well it is a good thing I am also still subscirbed to WoW and have a raid that conveniantly runs till server uptime. Somedays it is good to be an MMO junkie. :p

I can take this time to work on getting some (not coal not coal) achievements done for the Steam sale!

I've been staring at my pc for the last hour and it hasn't given me any lightsabery goodness... why hast thou forsaken me, SWTOR?!?!? *weeps*
Not gonna lie, I keep going to open up the game, then I have to stop and cry instead. I may have a problem...

I have found a way to amuse myself. I'm watching my 9 year old son trying to teach my dad how to play Portal 2 Co-Op.

I got on last night just a few minutes before the official launch time and the server pop was only "light". I texted my buddy that it was back up, and about 10 minutes later, he was in a queue of about 400. Craziness. My server has had a queue all day since 10 am here (I've been checking it periodically on my phone).

So my wife saw this on TV last night and she said "we are going to play this game". So now I get to save up money for upgrades for 2 computers. I will gladly do it too.

Disconnected from server.

Reconnected, standing in a queue of 1200, estimated time of queue? 1h20 minutes.

Fuck off.

I'm on Death Wind Corridor. PVP. I think that's where the official Reddit guild ended up so that's probably part of the reason why it's so busy.

Our guild got sorted to the second heaviest population server in eastern North America. The queues are easily my biggest pet peeve wit the game so far, and the second is that it takes me like 10 minutes to get from one planet's spaceport to another, but that may be a bigger problem with my computer/video card. It's time to upgrade...

Like, the moment I get another job, I'm buying a new computer. I can onestly afford one now but it seems weird to buy something non-necessary that expensive when I'm unemployed.

that sucks :( Daragon Trail so far has not been to bad and hope its decent pop stays decent without going overwhelming. Server selection is one of the suckiest things at an MMO launch. Population is volatile and also hoping all your different social circles pick the same server and faction as you, so annoying.

I'm playing on Mind Trick with my group of friends... we went from 5 min queues to last night being over a fucken hour. Biggest pet peeve.

A understand a queue but an hour? Someone, somewhere fucked up the way new players should have been seeded.

I still see a bunch of servers with very light or standard pops. I might just roll on one of them to avoid the queues for the next week or so.

The queue is a pain in the ass, but I just make sure I get in line as soon as I walk in the house after work and it's typically up by the time I'm finished cooking dinner.

While I really want to play this game, I decided I would rather just hold out. The server issues remind me of the issues Blizzard had on release, which is a good thing since it means huge interest, but will become a bad thing if they don't do the rapid server deployment that Blizzard did leading into the first few days of the WoW launch. I don't want to pay to sit in queues most of the time.

In the end, I want to see how it evens out. If in 6 months the game is still as popular as ever I will sign up, since I can afford at least one more subscription game. I notice a lot of MMOs these days usually release with a subscription and then within a few months revert to a F2P model, so I also want to see if that ends up happening here or not.

Either way, have fun and see you guys in the future!

Well, IMHO, I would say it'll be around a long time, and it's not going to go F2P anytime soon. They stand to make a lot more money on subs than micro-payments.

They aren't adding any more servers, probably because they know after a month their playerbase is going to plummet (as all MMOs do). I'm sure after the first free month is done, it'll get better.

That seems to be the general consensus. It's nuts now cause it's new. Things will die down in a few weeks.

People thought that about WoW, and it just kept growing and required even more and more servers even after the first rabid deployment that happened at launch. The servers WoW has now are over four times what they had originally. I think if the game is going to be as popular as people hope it would, then they need to assume the population will keep growing rather then shrink. The hype alone should have told them that.

It may very well be that many lose interest, and they wouldn't need the extra servers in the long run, but I would rather they invest into the servers and just merge them later then have the playerbase wait in gigantic queues. They can just sell the servers again to other companies/divisions or repurpose them for other games if they find they don't need them. This is actually one of the reasons I have already given up on DCU, because I found myself stuck in a queue most nights and decided to instead play other games.
