This reminds me of Pillars of the Earth, after I read the books after watching the HBO series which I though was good, the books were incredibly better and the HBO series on changed most things.
Yes, Tress it's still good... but a clear notch lower from where it was and 2 notches lower where it should be. Book 2 is the fucking shit.
IMO? The shortish season is clear and evident as they drive for the season finale. They could have put in about 2 episodes worth of storyline and still make massive amounts of money. In a way, they shot themselves in the foot. Yes, I know Dany isn't really important in Book 2 and they want to keep some focus on her but really? Did THAT have to happen?
They are taking far too many liberties with the show. I'm disappointed, especially after a great first season and the first couple episodes being right, the last 3-4 episodes have been progressively worse and worse.
For example :
Episode starts. Theon walks into Bran's room. Wait... what? Oh yeah, they just skipped his genius plan altogether and the siege of Winterfell because....? BOPE. Who knows. My fiancee, who never read the book was clearly WTF IS GOING ON. Then a "reminder"... "I had a dream" blah blah. FFS. This was supposed to be a brilliant ploy from Theon. Instead we got Theon light. They could have shown a dream sequence to put some interest on Bran. They could have shown the ploy in it's works, the grappling hooks into play as they take over Winterfell all in 1-2 minutes. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... let's rush the story.
This is a rushed storyline and it stinks. Remember those 5 minute sequences where we watched the whore crying in the bed room and random shit with the whore? Yeah. Let's not go there shall we? God forbid we cover exciting and intricate part of the storyline and just go "oh yeah, this happened, anyways here are some tits".
Just 1 extra episode would have made things so much better, heck 2 would have created a lot of opportunities to make money and also flesh out their characters. But noooooooooooooo.....
BTW Osha looked real nice. First attractive girl I've seen on this show show me their goods. Remember that fisherman's daughter? Good god. I couldn't eat Pizza for 2 weeks after seeing those slices hanging all the....
The changes weren't as bad as I was expecting having read the comments in this thread. Most of the plot points were still being hit, but they were definitely rushing to get to them. The show is becoming more and more like an adaptation of a book report rather than an adaptation of the book. I didn't feel too angry at the changes they were making, but was disappointed that the pacing and storytelling was suffering from the rush.
But that thing with Dany in Qarth? That's a HUGE change. Not sure what to make of that.

I think they're going to attempt to kind of clear up her stay in Qarth. It felt a little muddled with her chapter where
She goes to the worlock's place and has that weird vision quest or whatever and suddenly the guy who brought her there tries to kill her or something. It was a kind of confusing chapter but the main plot point we got out of it was that she wanted to GTFO of Qarth after that. I'm guessing with her dragon's being stolen she'll probably have some dream that covers some of her prophetic stuff and then she'll go get her dragons back and want to leave Qarth in a hurry
I liked this episode. I liked Theon barging into Bran's room like that and the way Bran reacted. It felt really close to the book. I also loved him in the courtyard when Bran yields winterfell to Theon. That whole thing was great. I wasn't crazy about Osha seducing him, but it kind of fits so I'll let it slide.
I didn't like the stuff with Yiggrid that much though. I mean it was cute and all but i mean Jon was about to kill her, and still hasn't made up his mind about it so......grind the booty on him? Maybe she's trying to seduce her way out but I'd think she'd be more direct about it if that were the case.
I don't care about any of this. All that matters is I got to watch Tyrion slap the taste out of Joffrey's mouth. Any episodes that has that is good in my opinion.
Can we ditch Jonn Snow and just follow the redhead? She's had two episodes and is already more interesting.
So Rob is going to die like an idiot isn't he? He's going to do something stupid with the hot doctor and piss off the people whose daughter he promised to marry. Kings don't get to marry for love jackass.
I could watch Tywin and Arya all day. Heck can we ditch the rest of the Stark boys and just follow the Stark girls or the girls the boys are almost having sex with?
I really don't care about Qarth. What did she exactly expect was going to happen? She went into a huge city with a tiny force and tried to protect the most sought after items in the world. I like her advisor though, need more of him.
I was disappointed that Tyrion didn't get to slap Jeffy again.
Yeah, I would have rather seen his cousin die by the outlaws and showing Jaime actually having some form of compassion. They're really sticking to the heartless asshole thing in the show.
I completely forgot that yesterday was Sunday, and so I've been reading this thread going "I don't remember that" thinking you guys were still talking about last week's episode.
Tywin to be Arya's 3rd death so that they can keep Tyrion a more likeable scamp later. I don't know if that will be the case, but I do recall hearing that someone that dies in Book 3 is going to die early. So I picked the early death that was the most likely to incite my rage that seemed likely based on the plot changes

They already wrote out other characters that seemed pretty important and merged them into other characters. His role in Book 3 could easily be moved to others. Which again, is rage inciting, but not impossible.
If they plan to do that, the wrath of Jay will reign supreme (worse then ME3 ending). That was the best moment of all 5 books, if it doesn't happen exactly how it is in the book..... ANGER SHALL FLOW.
That moment pissed you off? I was at first like then I was like and immediately ordered the 4th and 5th books online. Then I finished those two and was like
