Former President Trump Thread

This kind of willful ignorance and misinformation bothers me even more than the racism.

I'm cynical. I don't think he's ignorant. I think he's being deceitful, because he is hoping the virus doesn't explode before the election, so he can keep the panic down and the markets up to help him and his party's chances.

Fuck the people that'll die later because of it, right?

See, I think he's deceitful and ignorant. He's trusting that it'll all sort itself out later, or that there will be a breakthrough of some sort, and he'll get to be all, "See? Told you there was nothing to worry about." And then he will claim that breakthrough was the result of his brilliant leadership and not the panicked efforts of those other folks who could not stand idly by and felt they had to step in and pick up his slack. I honestly don't think he has the mental capacity to plan to be this deceitful on purpose.

"Let's negotiate with it."
"Sir, it's a virus."
"Oh, then tell everyone to get a flu shot. This sounds like something for whatsisname to take charge of."
"People are panicking, sir. The stock market is taking a dive."
"Shit. Tell everyone it'll be fine but short everything with Chinese suppliers anyways."

My wife's been bugging me to go on a cruise for 9 years. And every time we have the conversation I remind her that cruise ships stabilizers fail, they catch on fire, they lose power, they run aground, they are attacked by pirates, they are cesspits of disease, and, you know, the sea is an angry mistress. And these problems are not uncommon (though usually aren't severe). And they generally pack 2-3 times more people into the ship than live in my whole town.

It finally took covid and the Grand Princess to settle her mind against cruises. :D

Well, it's been nice knowing you all, hope you have a safe and uneventful WW3. Cause that may be the only way cheeto will get people to forget his adult diaper leaked while touring Tennessee today.

Good lord, I've never before wished death on someone. I've always felt it is uncouth and there is no one who truly warrants such animosity. But man, every day my limits are tested.

Did you see this last one where he said he should have been a doctor and that the CDC is asking him questions and wants to know how he got so much knowledge on the corona virus? Didja?

Professor President Poopy Pants strikes again.

Two very interesting pieces of news.

First, the White House is reporting that COVID-19 has been contained. I guess this is "Mission Accomplished!"

Second, remember CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference? It's the place where all the biggest players (and payers) get together to gain access to one another, figure out which poor group they want to fuck over this year, and try and find ways of making more money at the expense of others. Trump & Pence were there, as was a guy who has now tested positive for COVID-19. Now, that's not saying that Trump or Pence was in close enough contact to contract the virus, but my schadenfreude siren has been going off non-stop since I heard.

Perhaps when they said "contained" they meant "contained within the White House?"

I'll get worried when they close down our dental clinic or bar new patients. They haven't done that despite cases in Manatee county and even deaths in Florida.

That guy was one of the three (known) cases in my county.

We're trying to balance taking precautions with not freaking out, but my office runs lean staffing like a fast food place, so nobody stays home when sick unless they're horribly ill. Considering for 80% of people this is no worse than a cold, I'm almost certain it's getting into my work place.

Julie has respiratory issues due to past bouts with pneumonia. I don't know what helps better, strong lungs or strong immune system, but I'm trying not to be overzealous in worry. I'm terrified if anything were to ever happen to her, and I have zero confidence in this administration doing a damn thing to help anyone ever.

I guess they want to show that the american health care system in its current state is better than anything any european country ( or any country) has to offer.

Which will be used to fuel the disinformation from Trumpers in the future.

"The US actually has the lowest mortality rate of any country, the liberal conspiracy just covered up how many mild cases there were, this wasn't serious."

And

"Just look at the numbers, the US has the lowest infection rate per capita, the liberal conspiracy just says there were a lot of undocumented cases in order to try to undermine Trump's campaign."

Yes, they will say both of those. Some will probably even say both of those in the same paragraph/interview/discussion.

My response to that particular argument will be Hanlon's razor - Never attribute to [conspiracy] that which is adequately explained by [incompetence].

Circuit breakers kicked in overnight. Market just collapsed at opening bell, circuit breakers expected to trip several times today.
