Coronavirus Thread

Unpaid stay home tomorrow while things get figured out. It's not what I want, but I'm in a position of essentially needing to prove I can still do as I'm told because of issues since last year. It's not like I want to goof off on company time, but the sense of slipping trust is adding to my stress over the pandemic. I genuinely don't take to this job with a mind to disappoint.

I guess it's a different flavor of stress to take my mind slightly off the virus?

The current CDC recommendation is to avoid large gatherings for at least 8 weeks, I told my daughter there's a good chance that she's spending the rest of her middle school career learning from home. She was not pleased. My son is a senior in high school, probably the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if his class doesn't get a graduation ceremony this year.

The CDC recommends no gatherings of 10 or more. My office has 6 people. So I can still go into work. I'd be working from home regardless, so I think this is good.

The reason WV had no "reported cases" as of Monday morning is because the state lab had only tested 41 (FORTY ONE!) people out of a population of 1.8 million, and only reporting results that came through *their* facility. So the actual numbers are probably much higher.

Not good for a state that tends toward the old and stupid.

Gen Z has started calling COVID-19 the "Boomer Remover," and of course boomers are taking it about as well as they took "Ok Boomer."

Where's that one about Millenials complaining it's unfair that the virus only kills old people and leaves the young unscathed?

Wrestlemania is cancelled for Tampa, moving to the WWE training centre. For those of you unaware, Wrestlemania is the second largest event in North America each year, behind only the Superb Owl. Personally, I think true leadership and competent governance should have gotten ahead of this and cancelled the Superb Owl

You don't want me around anymore?:(

In news closer to home: Delta and American are parking some of their now-suddenly-unused planes at the Marana, AZ Pinal County Airpark.

Personal news: I have NFC what is going to happen beyond today with Transportation staff and MPS. I'm going to make a few phone calls to see if there's anything new, but I suspect the answer is no.

Oh, and in the one little item I saw this morning: they are starting to throw around the "D" word in regards to the markets.

"Democrats'll need to fix it"?
"Degenerate idiots running the banks should be put against the wall"?
"Deficit spending will solve all our issues"?
"Donald Trump can't fix it"?
:-P

Yeah, no, we're definitely in a recession and probably a depression.

I started working from home. My work still wants me to come in. Fuck that. I can do my job just as well from here so I am.

My boss is on board so I don't give a shit. The governor (the enormous human thumb) just set limits of 10 people at a gathering. Shit, I have meetings with more people than that. So I made a unilateral decision.

Got the call that wfh is optional but highly encouraged.

Yes please, get me off that cesspool of a train twice a day. So relieved.

There's a 2nd round of people being told to stay home. Had about 50 customers all day yesterday. We've been open for almost two hours and done 5 so far.

Allegedly should they close us all down we will still get paid if we stay at home. The idea being that theres so many background and security checks to get this job that the hiring process is about three weeks.

Schools in the area are apparently closed for the rest of the year.

First death in Ontario, elderly, did not travel abroad, was in contact with someone who had, was determined he had the disease after his demise.
