Coronavirus Thread

The coal industry is trying to take advantage of the situation by begging for exemptions from regulations completely unrelated to the current situation.

PA governor has shut the mines as "non life-essential." Sucks for the miners, but the industry as a whole can eat shit, Bob.

What a thing to do. Cool guy.

These kinds of stories make me feel a bit better. Stuff like that or that doctor that said if any company is requiring you to have a bullshit doctor's note, she'll facetime you and email you an official note free of charge.

If shit really hits the fan where you are at, and local hospitals start turning away people who are having trouble breathing, here is a massage that people with cystic fibrosis (and from what I've been told severe pneumonia) do to expel phlegm from their lungs.

Both people should cover their face, as best they can. Do it in a confined non common area and take a shower after. If you don't have anyone to assist you with this an electric massager might work. Deep tissue massager is probably the best but anything with a strong vibration might help.

Everyone is hoarding toilet paper and food, but when the batteries in your TV remote go, civil war.
As luck would have it, I found out a couple of months ago that my vape battery charger will recharge 'standard' rechargeable batteries as well. AA, AAA, etc..just not 9-volt. I bought a grip of batteries to replace the disposable ones as they wear out. I'm good for a few years now.

Then again, I'm also not hoarding toilet paper.

I am also not hoarding TP. I just buy it when it's on sale so I'm not paying like a buck a roll.

I checked my basement storage room. I have like 12 12 packs still stacked up in the room. I haven't bought toilet paper since like January. Think I'm good for a bit.

I also have like 4 things of Lysol wipes, but that's just because I always forget if I have any left and buy more.

Mr. Z started following this back in January or Feburary, so we actually made sure we had our usual supplies long before the panic buying started. But even after that, we realized that a) things might take longer than estimated and b)we forgot stuff or ran out of perishables. Mr. Z did the shopping this morning because he doesn't want any chance of myself or Li'l Z getting sick.

So, with that in mind, if our rotted turnip-in-chief could STOP mislabeling this the "Chinese" virus so Mr. Z could go to the store without getting death glares by the other customers, that would be great. (We weren't even buying tp, for chrissake.)

Since the quarantine a lot of parents have DM’d me saying they’ve been watching Spiderverse with their kids. A lot.
So, here’s my idea. If your child is home from school and wants a quick encouraging message from Peter B Peter, then send me an email with their name and I’ll try and send over a short voice note. If I don’t get to you, I apologize. #stayhome

I think this is really sweet. I also like Josh Gad (Olaf in Frozen, among other roles) reading stories for kids, and Mo Willems (Sheep in the Big City, the Pigeon books, etc) doing free drawing lessons for kids.

Well...The US has a larger population. Needs to be per capita.
Do they also have as many times (5 and some change) the respirators and hospital beds? Because that's the number that actually matters when it comes to preventing deaths, unless you're happy to be able to say "we had less deaths per capita, even though 2-4 times more people died".

Fewer beds per capita than Italy. Don't get me wrong, things are going to get dire in the US.
