Coronavirus Thread

It has often seemed to me that those who care about being disrepected to such a point that it becomes justification for the use of force are usually those least worthy of respect.
The idea that anyone would unironically consider public shaming to be an offense actually worth killing over just boggles my mind. It suggests they think of other human beings as nothing more than NPCs.

Wife went shopping. Remember at the beginning when there was a run on everything? Well, it's happening again. This time because of fears of resurgence and the fact that our meat supply is being hamstrung by workers getting sick and dying. In Missouri, more than 370 workers tested positive for the virus and ALL of them had no symptoms. Luckily, the plant has been doing wide-spread testing so they were able to catch it and prevent a bigger spread. Other facilities have not been so lucky. So here comes the run on essential foods. You thought toilet paper was bad? Buckle up.

I'll eat hamen if I have to, but I reeeally don't want to have to.

--Patrick
The fuck is hamen? Is that a typo for human like Alex Jones saying he'd eat his neighbors if there was a massive food shortage? Or was it ramen? Neither typo seems probable because the offending letters are not close to the original.

White House blocking Fauci from testifying before Congress about coronavirus response

And the last time he testified before Congress, his testimony was cut short when he was summoned to the White House. What doesn't Trump want the public to know?
Earlier Trump claimed that he was blocking Fauci from testifying because Fauci didn't have time. Today he says that he blocked the testimony because "The House is a setup, the House is a bunch of Trump haters. They put every Trump hater on the committee, the same old stuff. They frankly want our situation to be unsuccessful which means death, which means death. And our situation's going to be very successful," - source NBC News

The House is in charge of the budget. They need to be informed to do their jobs!

Trump was visiting a mouth mask factory in Arizona today, and the soundtrack...."Live and let die".
I'm not sure whose statement that was, but it's a bit on the nose

FDA: Makers of coronavirus antibody tests must now show tests actually work
"Test-makers must submit data within 10 days showing that their tests actually work—or risk getting purged from the market."

Sooo...does this mean some non-trivial portion of negative test results are actually "negative" test results?

--Patrick
In fact, almost half of positive tests (for antibodies, meaning partial immunity because you'd already had the disease) were false positives in some cases. Meaning people think they'd already had it and could go out, while in fact thy hadn't, and were still vulnerable.

Of course, in what measure antibodies actually provide long-lasting immunity is another matter still up for debate.

If he'd just said "Ya got me. I said a bad word," instead of blaming it on "an audio glitch," he could have clawed back so much credibility.

Ya missed a golden opportunity there, Big Jim.

New Banksy artwork appears at Southampton hospital

The artist left a note for hospital workers, which read: "Thanks for all you're doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if its only black and white."

The painting will remain at Southampton General Hospital until the autumn when it will be auctioned to raise money for the NHS. (BBC)

See, not all the workers reopening the country are at risk of dying from COVID-19... some will be shot long before they can catch the virus. :Leyla:

How is this even a thing? Unless that thing is ALL WHO GAINSAY ME MUST PERISH?

Anyone who thinks a Big Mac is worth killing over deserves to have the entire courthouse come down on them like they were the Wicked Witch of the East.

They weren't even denied Big Macs. They just didn't want to eat in their car.

But thank goodness they had easy access to fire arms so they could conceivably fight for our rights against a tyrannical government.
