[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

Still grinding gems, here.
Just need the gems and 2 more conquests.
Playing Necro means doing a solo 75 with lvl 35 gems BUT then struggling to do the other conquests.
Ah well. Only ~P500 so far, nothing I can't fix with another couple hundred or so paragon levels.

Yup, I've now got just the third conquest, gems, and the augment to go. If I level Hoarder for Avarice, I can throw that away as a 50 augment afterwards. If I go for the TX 2min run, it means getting icky in a multiplayer game (because while I can reliably do T16 or GR75 at around 3 minutes, there's really no decent way for this build to go any faster), but it also means i can just roll out any of my current gems for the augment when it's over 70. Haven't decided yet.
But yes, I think I solo'd GR75 first time around the time I got my gems to 35, too.
Boss Mode is doable (I just finished :-p) but not ideal with the Rathma build (Belial's spawns are a pain).

I'm still in doubt what class I want to start out with.
I always main Necro and/or WD, but both have pretty crappy starts this season, either due to nerfing, or a bad set to start with. I would like to gather their ethereals, but I doubt I'll ever bother to get ALL of them so what's the point.
DH, Monk and Barb are the best classes to start out with this season, but two of them I've never played (DH and Monk) so that'd be a bit of a learning curve...And Barb, yes, I like playing 'm too, but....Eh?

Anyone who wants to make the choice for me? No Wizard or Crusader :-P

I would like to gather their ethereals
This is probably going to be my goal this season...to try and get the achievement for getting all of them, assuming it doesn't require me to master 20 set dungeons or have all three companions where each of their items is augmented at lvl 100+ or some other thing that requires me to put in 60hr/wk on every possible character.

And IMO Barb is one of the quickest chars to get to 70 and onward to Guardian.

OK, so...I was looking over Maxroll, and there are three restrictions: "console", "HC", and "SSF".
I know what the first two are but...I can't figure out the third. And googling doesn't immediately reveal it, either. The logo is a knapsack, so....being poor/not getting power leveled? Season Starter Friendly? I honestly don't know. You got a clue?

Solo Self Found. Solo play, no interacting with/trading with players.

Be a DH like me. :p GOD DH is pretty fun and works good for solo or group play.

The Etherals are random drops so you can get all of them with one character - you don’t need to be playing each class to get each class drop. Unless they changed the PTR but that’s last I heard, they’re all just random drops, you don’t have to do anything special to get them.

They're separate items, but they are subject to smart loot. Getting all of them on one character is like trying to get set items for all classes on one character.
But, if it's just for the achievement and transmog, it's actually best /easiest to roll your other classes up to level 31, then start over, because that's where the magic item pool really upend up, reducing your chance of an ethereal.
Or, of course, getting a bunch of ancient puzzle rings and doing the Vault with different classes.

I mean, that’s not the info I have about them so I don’t agree. But that’s okay. You do you!

The Ethereals are a separate class of items (so like "scythe", not like "rare"). Each of the class Ethereals is weighed similarly to scythes, mighty weapons, phylacteries, etc.
So it'll definitely be possible to farm them all on one character, admittedly easier than getting full sets on other classes (which you'll notice isn't what I said). Other than that, they're random drop, and, starting at level 70, automatically Ancient, but never Primal. The drop rate is supposed to be fairly good at lower levels, then goes down to settle somewhere between unique and ancient.
And if your information is different, it's love to see it :) we can only learn!

I get that - they’re a separate class of weapon items, I know.

Haha, I don’t see where I made the assumption that you said it was like going for full sets? All I said was you can use one character and they’re random drops which is true. Are there easier ways to farm? Yeah, always. But it’s completely possible to just farm with your character and find them all. You don’t have to do anything special like PatrThom was worried about.

I was going based off the notes they gave from the PTR, that’s all.

Finished Slayer. Once again I'm amazed/appalled at how easy the Journey is for a Barb compared to a WD or Necro.
And found exactly one Ethereal so far, which isn't actually great as Ethereals go, but it still blows anything else out of the water.

As far as I'm concerned, most of this is because Barb has one of the easiest set dungeons to Master (IK), combined with the many ways Barb has to stack DR and DPS. But the Barbarian has kind of been the Diablo franchise's Ryu, so... I suppose I get it.

Man, P300, done the Ancient Vault twice (yes, Ancient, so all treasure goblins), and so far...Two Ethereals to show for it - twice Gimmershred.
I'm not to the "speed running GR90" point yet, but with these drop rates I'm never going to get them all.

Oh, by the way, salvaging Ethereals can be very lucrative. I got 100 DBs and 25 Forgotten Souls, but some people have reported getting up to 10 Greater Rift Keys, too.

I logged in for the first time last night, still putting away all my stuff.
Probably won't start getting to play until later tonight or tomorrow.

--Patrick

23 hours in, and I just had my third Ethereal drop! WHoohoo!
And it's Gimmershred again with worse rolls than the first one.
Seeing these videos of streamers getting multiple Ethereals in one T16 rift is maddening. I've done dozens of them. Blegh. Chalk it up to multiplayer getting better drops I guess? Considering this drop rate, though, I'll never get 21 of them. heck, I still haven't seen two out of three for the only class I've played so far!

Finally started playing last night. About the time I got to lvl 15, one of the folks on my friend list (who is already P800) was like, "Hey, you want a PL?"
...so one T6 rift, one T16 rift, and one GR100 later and now I'm something like P250 but still haven't completed chapter 1.
Well I guess that'll make up for that first couple of weeks when I was still moving over my computer and couldn't play.

Meanwhile one of my other buddies has already completed the Guardian level and is probably done for the season.

--Patrick

I've finished pretty much everything except the gems and conquests, but they're not especially hard this season.
If I'd found all three Barb Ethereals by now I'd be tempted to try and get some more, probably WD and Necro and then fail to bother to get the Dex chars... But now I'm getting bummed and not doing much of anything.

Ok, finished Ch4, now it's just the grind.
I DO intend to hunt for the full suite of ethereals, but so far I've only found the same one twice, and the other guy found the exact same one while he was leveling me, even though he was playing a different class at the time.

--Patrick

Well, I'm all-but-done with the Journey (just the all-bosses-20-minutes to go, but since I'm playing a WW Barb that's a joke). I've found Gimmershred 4 times, and Doombringer once. Still haven't seen The Grandfather. Admittedly, I haven't bothered to do any GRs over 85, but still. Ugh.

I found my first Grandfather at lvl 6 and I've found 5 more since then. Also 2 or 3 Doombringers. But I haven't seen a "Gimmershred" (or whatever the third one is) yet. Still have to level gems, do the set dungeon, and get the conquests.
Then I can move on to doing the other characters to find their ethereals.

Gimmershred's the flying axe, it's the speed farming one (well, more or less - where the grandfather is the two handed heavy damage one and Doombringer's the in-between).

Doombringer's the in-between
I tell you what...finding this Doombringer (and finally finding a Ring of Might) and adding it (them) to the Savages set was the difference between "I think I'm ready for T10" and "I can now solo GR80 and survive GR100 without dying."

--Patrick

Vault farming is ridiculously effective for Ethereals. I mean, I think I'll try to find them legitimately for the classes I'm used to playing - WD and Necro - but for the ones I'm not really interested in? Yeah, Vault farming is easy mode. Level a character to 5, then equip the Illusory Boots and a L70 weapon with gem of ease. Cube a Puzzle Ring, walk through everything to Greed and kill her. She's guaranteed to drop 2 legendaries (at last on Torment I)...But at level 5-11, there's only one option, Leoric's Crown. So one or even both legendary drops will be an Ethereal instead. Once you're past level 11, the drop table for legendaries expands so it's not really useful anymore. Rinse and repeat 'till you have all the Ethereals you want for the class. Obviously this requires a bunch of Puzzle Rings, but those aren't that difficult to get, either from Kadala or upgrading rings with the Cube.

36+ hours of Barb and still no axe.
Started a Crusader, took over 11hrs' play to even get my first ethereal.:mad:
I'm P760 now, there's no excuse for this crap. At this rate, I am seriously doubting whether I will actually be able to catch them all before season end without some kind of bonus drop rate in the closing weeks of the season.

--Patrick

Yeah, no, the only effective way really is to grind Puzzle Rings (apparently gambling on a L31 Monk has the highest rates ,though I might be off) and using low-level toons.
I haven't opened D3 since well before my vacation, I don't even properly remember which ones I've gotten anymore. I'll see if I can get back into it, perhaps, but first I'm trying to finish up my WC2 playthrough :)

I tried doing the low-level toon thing, but you have to defeat Greed at exactly level 11 for best results, which is difficult to do when you have the GoE equipped. I have a set of Illusory Boots and a Burning Axe of Sankis which are both reduced to level 1 via GoE sacrifices, but I keep finishing Greed at either level 10 or 12. Grr.

--Patrick

At this rate I'll at least be able to finally do two things I've considered doing but never completed--leveling all my gems to at least 100, and cubing one of every item possible. Maybe there's an achievement for doing so within a season.
