Ok so I have a couple friends who have become decent at playing the guitar. It seems like whenever I go over to any one of their places they will eventually pick up their guitar and play. A few songs are cool but after that I am ready to get back to some discussions or do something, anything else. How should I accomplish this? I dont want to be overly rude to them but it gets boring and awkward listening to what is essentially someones guitar practice.
Thanks

Dear Rove,
The way I see it you really only have 3 choices.
Put up with the music.
Leave whenever you get tired of the music.
Talk to your friends and say, "You know, even though I like your playing I wish you wouldn't do it so much when I'm there."
Of course, there's also choices like howling like a dog whenever they try and play, smashing their guitars like Animal House or telling them that music is a tool of the Devil (pronounce it "Debble"). But these probably won't bring any real results - although they may be fun.
They're your friends. I suggest talking to them or starting an instrument to join in. If you talk and they choose not to stop at least you know where you stand, right?
Good luck, my not-so-musical friend!

Whenever they bust out their guitar, grab a bagpipe and make annoying attempts at playing it, just so they get the point.

They whip out their guitar, you whip out your penis.
