Nobody seems to know why right now. The news pretty much just broke within the last hour or so.

edit: Possibly a car crash.

"Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise," the police spokesperson, Tim Lupo, wrote in an email to USA TODAY Sports early Friday morning.

Well, "his heart stopped beating" is a medical issue. "because his brains are plastered over his car steering wheel", "because he took all the drugs at once", ""because there were five bullets lodged in his chest", they're all really just circumstances and comorbidities.

(note that I don't know the guy at all, and don't mean this in a way as to imply he did something wrong or was in any way responsible. I just think it's a stupid way of saying things)

"Thomas was found dead on December 9, 2021, in his home in Roswell, Georgia. It was determined that he died from medical complications related to injuries he received in a 2019 vehicle crash.[194][195] He was 33 years old.[196][197]"
