[Brazelton] Onlyfans

I have never spent money on Onlyfans, and now I probably never will.

Though there's one Youtuber I follow who has an OF and I've been tempted to subscribe, but mainly to satisfy my curiosity.

Supporting sex workers is the best answer I've got for you. I never did myself, so...*shrug*
I can see that. But they're selling something I don't wanna pay for.
I mean, if I had a friend who did it, I can see throwing a subscription their way to help them out. But a total stranger? I have no reason to pay for any one over the other...and no real reason to pay for any of them.

About the only porn subscription I was ever tempted to pay for was over at Kink.com, because it's so hard to find decent video of my particular kinks.

I never subscribed to onlyfans either, but I know lots of people did. And they did, I assume, because they were fans of the people they subscribed to.

But even though the site wasn't for me or my interests, I still see it as a sort of exploitation to let porn make your site popular and then try to brush it under the rug so you can get big investors to give you money. And I certainly feel bad for the many sex workers that found onlyfans as a safe and secure place to ply their trade only to suddenly be abandoned because the higher ups have made enough money off of them.

You ain't lyin'.

Dailymotion, tumblr, YouTube (yes really), and even PornHub I suppose. Porn it up until the porn becomes "inconvenient," then dump it.

If there is not an alternative already this will be a golden opportunity for another website to take the business that Onlyfans is refusing.

Tumblr and Onlyfans and Pornhub all "cleaned up" for the same reason - mastercard and visa bullied them.

What really needs to happen is there needs to be is more competition in the credit card industry, not just yet another Pepsi/Coke war that is fake and only serves to increase the profits of both.

All capitalism is fake cronyism. There's no such thing as competition when all the parties figured out they could collude and get even richer instead.

But if you can insure competition, and punish collusion, amazing things happen. Low prices, fast advancement, good company service.

It hasn't been that way in a decade or two, since everybody started buying everybody else and competition has become all to rare.

Time for some new trust-busting. It'll be painful, like in the early days of the AT&T breakup, but it's what's needs to be done.

It's crazy to me because OF is synonymous with porn. Like I understand their intent was originally to be a fan site for like sports stars and stuff but that ship has sailed long ago. No, and I don't like putting it this way, respectable celeb is going to advertise their only fans page. They have other sponsors and stuff that would drop them even if OF is porn-free. Like I can't imagine they're doing anything except shooting themselves in the foot.

I've subbed to a few in the past months. Hell my wife and I had from time to time considered starting one. To me it's supporting a creator directly and specifically not supporting the predatory big industry porn.

And of course reddit and other places are all celebrating because why should someone make rent while also enjoying their work and not being beholden to a boss? It's all just envy if you ask me.

Stripper? Fine
Porn star? Fine
Super model? Fine
Hooters waitress? Fine
Any of the other ways someone can make money from their looks? Fine

Because someone ELSE is making a little bit more and maybe that other person could be me. Making money for yourself? Well, you're just lazy. Go make money for me while I "manage"

The crazy irony is that online CC payment processing was invented for porn sites, if I recall correctly.

Streamers mocking the loss of income for sex workers was the level of un-selfawareness I was unaware (but shouldn't have been) existed.

Bruhs, you play video games in front of cameras and say "Thanks for the sub JesusChristSaves420" for a living.

A nice thread on this. Long story short, the real issue isn't that MasterCard doesn't want to play ball with sex business... it's that it's being pressured to by Christian Dominionists who make up stories about how these industries actually work in order for things like this to happen. They don't care that much of this stuff is legalized; they want it outlawed on principle because of their "Christian Values".

Onlyfans says it was credit card companies that pressured them, and that still may be the case, but Mastercard is saying "wadn't us".

Yeah, that's Mastercard being passive-aggressive. They had absurd demands, like a human monitoring every livestream in real time, for continuing to allow explicit content.

"We didn't say you have to leave the building. We just said we'd cut the water & power, and start blaring Kidz Bop at full volume 24/7 if you didn't. You can still stay if you want."

I'll start calling cyrpto a currency when people stop trading it like a commodity.
Like people do with other currencies on the forex market? :D

The FX market is where currencies are traded. It is the only truly continuous and nonstop trading market in the world...

An interesting aspect of world forex markets is that there are no physical buildings that function as trading venues for the markets. Instead, it is a series of connections made through trading terminals and computer networks. Participants in this market are institutions, investment banks, commercial banks, and retail investors.
edit: That said, I don't think of crypto as a currency either. More like volatile stocks (kind of like the penny stock market). I decided to dip my toe into it (to the tune of about 1% of my yearly gross income) during the big slump of bitcoin earlier this year, and have made about 21% gains since. But because of that volatility, that's all 'play money' or 'gambling money' since I know it can all be wiped out tomorrow.
