So, in starting this new job, watching new hires, and attending meetings, I'm noticing that the company is doing very well at diversification. At least half (if not a smidge more) of our QA techs and developers are female. That's nice.
I considered it..but it's not really a victory is it? Nothing was gained. It's just...nice. In this field, it's usually a lot of socially inept geeks or toxic bros. Back when I was in charge of the department a couple jobs ago, I ended up hiring the only woman that ever applied, which made it about a 20% ratio on the home team. For the offshore team, it was closer to 40%. This is the first place I've worked where women may slightly outnumber the men in a technology field.So a sort of... minor victory?
