That's nice (things that aren't awesome, funny, or a rant...but just nice)

So, in starting this new job, watching new hires, and attending meetings, I'm noticing that the company is doing very well at diversification. At least half (if not a smidge more) of our QA techs and developers are female. That's nice.
 
I considered it..but it's not really a victory is it? Nothing was gained. It's just...nice. In this field, it's usually a lot of socially inept geeks or toxic bros. Back when I was in charge of the department a couple jobs ago, I ended up hiring the only woman that ever applied, which made it about a 20% ratio on the home team. For the offshore team, it was closer to 40%. This is the first place I've worked where women may slightly outnumber the men in a technology field.
