Much as I loved The Hobbit, I'm glad to see PJ won't be taking anything home.

Crap, I forgot Lincoln would be scored by John Williams. I really need to listen to that.

Django Unchained is up for some serious stuff. Gotta get to seeing that.

I'm going to guess Daniel Day-Lewis is probably going to win Best Actor, but apart from that I'm finding it hard to make any other predictions.

I think Ted getting nominated is worse than Avengers. At least Avengers is just for special effects.

Unless it was for the thunder buddy song.

I haven't seen Life of Pi...or Silver Linings Playbook...or Amour or Les Mis or Beasts of the something southern something. Damn. I haven't missed this many best pictures in years.

That song was my favorite part of the movie. I was humming and making up lyrics to it for a frigging week.

I'm thinking they'll give The Hobbit the nod when the trilogy ends, like they mostly did with LotR. At least, they fucking better.

You know what's going to remembered as that movie that didn't deserve the oscar in a few years?

Fucking Argo.

Man, my entire Facebook feed right now is flooded with orgasmic Taiwanese people celebrating Ang Lee's win.

I never watch the Oscars. I can get pretty much everything the next day. It's just too long to watch people get their buttholes puckered over minor jokes. They all act so damned above it all it's like a hipster heaven.

Besides, I watched the opening for Seth McFarland and although I loved the Captain Kirk part, they sang and danced to songs like "The Way You Look Tonight" and "High Hopes". You know, current music.

Seth does a good Sinatra imitation, and the theme was movie songs.
I guess I didn't realize that both of those songs won the Academy Award for best song in their year. Still, a song from 1959? If they want to stay relevant they should at least get within 50 years. The Way You Look Tonight was in the 1930's!

Weird, I'm listening to that song right now. So good :D

I don't watch em either. It's like the Superbowl... a good enough reason to get together with friend, but not interesting to watch. Something to talk over.

I watch it. I used to be as much of a movie nut as Charlie. I just can't stand all the "who are you wearing" crap that it is about now.

Here's another reason why they don't matter and annoy the shit out of me. I did catch the "In Memorium" portion (my wife & daughter watched it and I was on break from Borderlands with Jay). They had such luminaries as sound re-editor Whogives Ashit and things like that. Yes, they had an In Memorium for a sound re-editor. Who did they miss? Andy Griffith. Alex Carris. Richard Dawson. Larry Hagman. Pyllis Diller. Davy Jones.

But, you say, some of those people had very little to do with movies! I guess that's why they included Beastie Boy, Adam Youch.

First of all, Seth McFarlane singing old songs shouldnt be a surprise. He loves them a ton.

Second of all, you should appreciate him trying to bring back some fond memories of your middle age.

There's a lot of misdirected anger at Seth for some of the material. No one seems to realize that most, if not all of it was actually coming from Bruce Vilanch, the long time head writer for the Oscars ceremony. You think he'd delegate choice material to some lowly "host?"
