[Gaming] Diablo 3 : Ser Farm-A-Lot

I know he's only level 62, but man, I feel like I'm playing my barbarian...."wrong". He's far more of a glass cannon than my wizard is! And the "inflicting lots of damage" is still coming from a l70 weapon (though the gap with other weapons is closing and he's seriously undergeared otherwise). I'm just really noticing the difference in resistances. His lowest resistance is 76, where my wizard has a 1400 minimum thanks to int. Armor really seems to make much less of a difference than resistances. Though I suppose it's mostly due to my horrible lack of proper gear atm :p

Armor and resistances function exactly the same, but at a 10:1 ratio. That is, 10000 armor will reduce damage exactly the same amount as 1000 resist all. The thing is, they are both on a logarithmic scale, which means that there are significant diminishing returns at work. As a general rule, for maximum effectiveness you should concentrate on raising whichever one is lowest, assuming you have any kind of gap. That is, if you find a nifty new item while you have an armor of 12000 and a resist all of 1189, you can afford to gain or lose a few points either way, so you have the luxury of letting the other stats on the item guide your choice. However, if you have a wider discrepancy between the two, you might want to first see how switching out this gear will affect your damage reduction.

Oh, and when doing the above, don't forget to add in 1 point of additional armor for each point of STR/DEX the item gives you, or 1 point of resist all for every 10 INT the item gives you. The reason my Wiz was so tough even with such a low VIT prior to the expansion was because he was selecting items that rolled armor, INT and STR, which is how I was able to have a level 60 wiz with 12000 armor to go with his 1800 or so resist.
I just couldn't get into my Crusader. He felt so exposed and slow.
That's a Crusader, all right. They're tanks, through and through. They can gain armor like no other class, and they can wear a shield while doing it for even more armor. The Crusader class was created to use a shield, so if you're not using a shield, you're going to be rather limited. It would be like playing a Demon Hunter who doesn't use a bow.

Oh, he has a shield. The slow tank feeling really doesn't do it for me though. Even his damage output isn't impressive enough for me to enjoy playing him.

Yeah, they're meant to be fortresses, not cannons. If you want damage, play a Wizard or Demon Hunter, but be prepared to die a lot. They're pretty squishy.

I dunno, my WD plays a good middle ground. And good christ, I find the DH so boring I can't even stomach playing it past lvl 10.

My Crusader just hit T5 but I have to be careful because I can't just stand in things and ignore stuff anymore. However I still seem to be able to blow up a room full of mundanes. Though single target is kinda slow for me which sucks for certain greater rift bosses such as Eskandiel...patiently waiting to get a krelm's(sp?) bracer that has the stats I want.

Currently trying to get a RorG for all of my characters. I've managed to find a whole 2. On the bright side, farming for the ring is quick and generally I finish the 5 missions in act one in less than 30 minutes, leading to about 1/2 a Paragon level. This is pretty fast considering I'm at 306 now.

Now I save up the packs and then open about a dozen at once. Hopefully it feels less drudgery than opening them up one at a time.

All week! Double EXP & Gold.
I noticed. Barb is level 70 now, too.

Question for the experienced: I'm mainly using whirlwind and Furious Charge for my attacks (because I found a Vile Ward and even if it's only level 48 I still haven't found a level 70 that comes near the amount of damage). I'm using Maximus as my weapon for now, though I do have a Askaleng or whatever it's called with a slightly higher damage. The fire chains and demon are nice and also provide quite a bit of damage with good positioning.
Anyway, to profit off the 20% increased fire damage I switched my whirlwind to the fire version - simply dealing a bit more damage (coupled with the 20% increase, of course, the difference is substantial). However, the cold rune that "sucked in" enemies really helped in drawing enemies close enough together to keep my Furious Charge up all the time (I'm using the rune to reduce cooldown by 2s for every enemy hit, so I'm usually zipping around the screen like I'm on speed). I can't quite decide which is the more helpful. Any ideas. (and yes, I know, git gud and learn how to position properly :p)

Yep. It kicked in right at Midnight PDT. The buff icon sprang to life as I was clearing bounties.
...so of course I played another 2 hours.

See if you can't find an Ess of Johan, maybe?

I couldn't continue watching when dude identified each legendary on its own. Also, if he got 14/100 legendaries, he isn't doing his bounties on T6,[DOUBLEPOST=1427248477,1427248336][/DOUBLEPOST]
What it's like playing a T6 rift as a Demon Hunter once you have some good items and plenty of paragon points underneath you.

I think that has to be sped up some? At the end it seems to slow down.

Also, good lord he must have some high magic find stuff on!

It IS during some sort of +MF event, as the icon indicates in the lower part of the screen. but yeah :p

Double exp with the gem of ease is ridiculous. I decided to try a DH just to see how it worked and if I could recreate the feel of that video (obviously not on T6 or with those numbers, flying through killing everything in your path like that seemed fun). She's now level 64 and I just realized I hadn't even chosen a follower yet. Less than 3 hours to level 64 on solo on Expert (as I said, I wasn't actually going for fast leveling, just wanted to see what kind of build it was - strafe and wreath of lightning I guess :p) really does mean leveling is now piss-easy. In a group you'd level to 70 in 20 minutes without trying.

You really don't even need a gem of ease if you want to get a character to 70 fast. I made a brand new crusader last night, crafted the cain set for super cheap that offers bonus xp, stuck a ruby in a helm, and then asked if anyone was running T6 bounties. I joined their game, sat in town or followed around behind them when I was bored, and dinged level 70 about 40 minutes later without ever having done anything.

Remember I never played on the US servers. No Cain's set, no Torment, no nothing. Talk about "brand new" :p

It's true, leveling is completely trivial in group play. SP....Well, my WD, my very first character, has 28 hours of play and is level 47 or 48 or something. Comparatively, my level 64 DH with 3 hours is a bit...Out of whack?

Hey! You hosers were supposed to tell me when the game was on sale!

It's half off from Blizzard right now, so the game and xpac come to $40
