No, it's not the same mentality at all. Giving negative rep is not being a douchebag, in and of itself. Some of the comments attached to that rep may be, but criticism, even anonymous criticism, is not inherently a negative thing. Why am I bothered so much by your wrong statements? Because I'm tired of the prevalent assumption that all criticism is evil, and starting to get annoyed at all the bitching about rep comments. If someone crosses the line in their rep comments, tell the admins. Otherwise, there's no reason to be upset by getting negative rep. As the host says on Who's Line Is It Anyway? "everything's made up so the points don't matter".

Who said giving negative rep was bad? (who gives a flying fuck about rep, anyway?) It's the snide little remarks (not criticisms) that I'm talking about. You're telling me that an anonymous phrase intending to jab at a poster is the same thing as criticism?

This rep system confuses me. I tried giving Calleja but it said I had to give rep to more people first. So I gave out some rep and came back to try again and it gives me the same answer. So I go and give one rep and come back to try again still nothing.So I repeat that process for awhile and now it tells me I used up all my rep for the day and I still didn't get to give any to Calleja :(

From what you've posted I don't think you bother to discern the difference between criticisms, straight-up insults and comments that are aren't meant to be taken seriously.

If I recall correctly, each person can give out 10 rep per day, and you have to give out rep to 10 other people before you can give rep to someone again.

Aaaaah that would explain it. For some reason I thought it was 9 reps or wait a day.

So with 10 rep a day, and I give out 4 points a pop because my post count. I guess that means I can only pat 2 people on the back on a given day.

No you can still give 10 reps a day. The amount of points your rep is worth is separate than the amount of reps you can give.

Ok, I'll see what I can do for neutral colors. If I change it to white, it won't show on the white board. if I change it to black, it won't show on the black board. A suggestion for a color ya liked would have gone a long way, mystery neg (I wrote out 'negger' and decided it was NOT what I wanted to write) ;)

And I would like to officially retire from wanting a 42 rep, people. It's gotten ridiculous, the amount of pos and neg rep comments I get has elevated to like 15 per hour, I can't even keep track of them. So let's just leave my rep to it's usual arbitrary-ness, aight?
