Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

Despite what you think, Trump isn't bad enough to cross the Godzilla Threshold. When you are calling North Korea a "hero" in any context, your sense of right and wrong is really fucked up.

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

You're right DA, which is why I set my "paranoia" level to a certain point. Beyond that it's too much of a pain in the ass. But below it I could live happily. But no longer, which is... WTF? For an organization like Mozilla to claim to be so freedom/privacy oriented, and then snatch such a...

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

Sure, but those are concerned with getting stuff on to your browser in the first place. I'm concerned with that, but I also want to be able to (automatically) nuke the few that manage to get on, because some will, sooner or later.

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

Great idea, but I can't get a straight answer on if any extensions there (or default with it) that it blocks and/or you can remove SuperCookies. Everything else is 100%, so that's the closest so far. But it's the "I don't want ANY crap on my computer EXCEPT for sites I SPECIFICALLY allow it...

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

@steinman, I appreciate the suggestion, but that website is HORRIFIC for telling you about the following: What's the engine of the browser (found it in an UNRELATED FAQ question about laptops) - chromium Screenshots? - You know, I don't LIKE watching videos about programs generally Simple...

    Rant VIII: The Reckoning

This is a disaster: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/57.0/releasenotes/ Removing legacy extensions before MANY of the functionalities there are available through the new framework? WTF were they thinking? In particular, no removing LSOs (SuperCookies), no full support for mouse gestures...

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Nothing at all to do with the fastest-growing religion in that country celebrating the life of a pedophile, and the desire of those in power to "appeal" to them for votes. Of course not. Nope, no chance of that either.

    Random Video Game Crap

I think that for $2000 (I've seen higher-priced bundles before) they would DO that, along with putting a fake number of hours invested into your Steam Library at the same time. I honestly would see this coming.

Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

France's solution to this kind of Bullshit? LOWER the age of consent to 13! I wish I was kidding. I really do. But that's seriously what it is. Their laws were "slightly" ambiguous on if consent was possible, and so acquittals, and then their response isn't to just keep the same age (15)...

    Random Video Game Crap

Oh I'd always thought of it as "I don't have to spend time on it" but I'd never thought of it as "I'm not getting content, I'm skipping it." That's the "new way of thinking" in that video for me. Hence his title page of "Content versus Anti-Content."

    Random Video Game Crap

Related to DLC/MicroTransaction/Loot Boxes/etc: Pretty good summary. I'd never quite thought of it as (I'm paraphrasing here) "you're not buying content, you're buying to SKIP content" since you can "grind out" most loot-box stuff.

Get rid of welfare and just give every adult $870/mo

I liked how that video honestly tried to present both sides of it. There was a bias towards "don't panic" but it was honest both ways IMO. Now for the heavy political side: The guy said it right at the end, remind me again if Globalization is Good or Bad, given Trump's anti-globalization...

Links: Global News (Canada) : Trump Jr. and WikiLeaks exchanged private Twitter messages during, after election campaign Trump Jr's Twitter post: And since when did Wikileaks become "cut outs for the Kremlin" for some? They're kind of "release everything, no matter who's in power" kind of...

Former President and Convicted Felon Trump Thread

I thought we were either at, or near the point where more bots can pass the Turing Test than people? I'm pretty sure we're already past that point for Captchas, which is hilarious.

    Are apps getting more bloated?

One cause of this is "resource rot" over time. The best way I have to illustrate that is the "Hot Coffee" mod for GTA that had all the controversy. People wondered why it was still "in the game files" even if it was disabled? The short answer is this: it's safer. It's often difficult to...

    Are apps getting more bloated?

Dude, my current company's codebase is between 300k and 400k lines (I just did a count), and compiled takes up ~12MB. The SOURCE FILE size uncompressed is less than 15MB. The apps are bloated because of resources, not because of alternate code paths. Umm, no you don't. You set a define in...

    Are apps getting more bloated?

I disagree. Code is TINY. It's resources (images, sound, 3D-objects) which are big. Even with workarounds, you wouldn't even notice the difference for code size. Only resources that take up significant space.

And thus the guy on the right isn't Crono, he's the main guy from Secret of Mana, in which you could only carry 4 of each type of item (Damned annoying mechanic btw). Too many of their games have "radical hair" protagonists! Thanks Frank.
