I would totally watch that movie, and then buy the action figures, t-shirts, DVDs, bootleg VHS tapes, Japanese limited-edition posters, McDonald's Happy Meal toys, and Pepsi product tie-ins.
 
That C-3PO looked an awful lot like the robot from Metropolis if I recall correctly.

The use of the old ghost busters theme kind of bothered me, though, because I know the two series were unconnected.

I know it shouldn't bother me, but the anal-retentive geek in me just wouldn't let it go.
