3. Edmonton will miss the playoffs.

5. Arizona won't (but will get swept in the first round by Dallas).
6. Toronto will finish second in the Atlantic. Boston will finish third. Guess who wins that matchup (hint: they don't wear blue sweaters).
7. Tampa will hold on to win over the Pens, but lose to Boston in the conference semis.
8. Florida upsets Washington in seven; Ovechkin announces he's retiring.
9. Bruins beat the Islanders for the East title.
10. Nashville takes out the Blues, takes the Stars to seven, but can't win game 7 at AAC.
11. Vegas walks past San Jose and beats the Stars in seven to advance to their second Stanley Cup finals.
12. This time, they win it in six.

It's just a recent example of how rare it is especially since the shoot out, that teams who are doing well by December will not make the playoffs.

Not NHL, but nice story nonetheless. A Bantam tournament in NS over the weekend, on team had some people and the weather stopped some others from attending. In total they were down 9 skaters and lost 5 - 0.

But the losing goalie made 98 saves!

I think anywhere from 5-10 is reasonable, given that I don't think Kassian made a conscious decision to try to stab someone with his foot, and factoring in that he's already been suspended this season. I'd be pretty surprised if it's not in that range.

Same as it always is, sell merchandise, sell tickets, sell concessions but most importantly sell advertisements. What sort of business model accepts the failure of 30 of 31 participants every year? That's what you get if you define winning the Cup as success. So you can't actually view any sports league in that manner. Why else are we having sports during a pandemic? It's not for the fans, it's for the owners bottom line and absolutely to make sure that the fans don't suddenly realize we don't need pro-sports leagues. So go ahead, taunt the fans of teams that lose, because the billionaires that are selling you that story sure didn't.
