In reviewing your resume, I feel your background and experience might qualify you to be a part of our team at Colonial Life. I am looking for results driven individuals who want to take their careers to a higher level.

We specialize in employee benefits services and enrollment, which happens to be one of the fastest growing needs in corporate America, as well as being quite stable (which is important in today's business world.) Due to the rapid growth in this market, we are currently expanding and filling numerous Sales Management positions.

I would like for you to call me personally at [redacted] so we may set up a date and time for you to come in to discuss your opportunity for success at Colonial. Your meeting with us will be a one-on-one interview (no group interview sessions!!) where we will further discuss your qualifications and the Colonial opportunity.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Deborah Bellino
Colonial Life - Making benefits count

Hi Deborah!

Words can't express the feelings I have by receiving such an impressive offer to work in insurance sales, something which is completely outside the scope of any work I have listed on my resume! After working for 20 years as a computer programmer, earning three patents, and establishing my worth at such industry giants as Citigroup, I think it's exciting that at my age I can have the opportunity to start all over in a new career, working my way up from the bottom at a salary far below what I am currently making in my current profession. I haven't had to live on ramen soup and deal with quotas and high-pressure environments since I worked at Taco Bell in my teens. It sounds like hoot--count me in!

Best regards
Greg Mahan

I got one the other day for a "Once in a Lifetime Opportunity"! It was basically "WORK AT HOME AND MAKE $1000 A WEEK!!!" kind of thing.

I didn't bother to respond.

I did hear back. She even threw in a "God bless you" to elevate her high horse even further.

"I don't know why a person of your supposed stature would send such a mean spirited and low class message. I wish you much future success. God bless you"

My response

Deborah,
I really don't know what you are talking about. I don't believe I said anything mean spirited or negative at all! On the contrary, I was stoked to accept the position. However, I'm concerned about your tone. Does this mean I don't get the job?

Yours in Jesus
Greg
People in high profile careers aren't supposed to be mean spirited and low brow? Well, I'm fucked.

Yeah, seriously. You'd think that they're used to people sending sarcastic comments back.
