Kurtz mentioned this on his site recently, heavily promoting the hardcover book of this webcomic as one of the most definingly awesome product a webcomic has turned out, and in this particular regard, Scott is not wrong. I will sadly not be purchasing it in the immediate future because I can't afford to, but I'm hoping to get it as a birthday present later on.
You should probably read the comic from the beginning, but most of the strips are fairly standalone. (Basically, strips featuring Charles Christopher himself don't make sense out of context, the rest are fine on their own but often more poignant if you're more familiar with the characters).
The art style reminds me a lot of Bill Waterson, when he's doing one of Calvins' "realistic" fantasies.
