Adblockplus + bliptv = FAIL

so BlipTV has decided that anyone who uses adblocking must be PUNISHED those dirty leeches! When a video is opened up a link shows up informing you how you are depriving legitimate artists of ad money and you must now wait 90 seconds for the video to start. Congrats guys, I am now just going to watch the rips on youtube!

also if anyone knows how to get around this I am all ears. They are changing their stuff daily to keep the software from disabling this message.

When I watch stuff from Blip it's usually something I want to watch on my Netbook while I'm cooking/doing dishes/kitchen stuff. Sadly Blip's flash player (and Hulu's for that matter) does not play nice with the underpowered little beastie, so I use the RSS feeds from Blip to download the episodes I want to watch.

Just use http:// blip.tv/<Show Name>/rss/

Example: http://blip.tv/OLPresents/rss/

That said, I am a little puzzled as to why you think watching a short commercial is an unfair payment to watch an episode.

I should add I have it turned off on the guy with the glasses, because they made a video asking fans to do so, however, the videos all post the message so I am watching the stuff on other services that don't punish people for blocking ad targeting.

my guess is that because I am using Do Not Track Me and Ghostery in addition I am probably triggering some sort of line of code for people like me that do not allow them to collect metadata.

sorry pez, I went back and edited my response to sound less crazy... lol

Have you actually watched an episode lately without adblock? It's terrible. Not only are there adds that are in the beginning middle and end of the videos, but ads that pop up every 2 minutes or so over the videos themselves, one of which doesn't even have a way to close it without actually stopping the video. It's horrible.

Yes, I have. I rewatched the Linkara/Nash/FilmBrain crossover review of the failed Wonder Woman pilot. I didn't notice pop-up ads over the video, though maybe that's because I'm using no-script. The pre-roll ads play just fine for me, and I know mid-roll ads are a choice that's up to the video producer (and most choose to because ad revenues are down, big time).
