Who is excited about this game? After the trash heap that was the last alien game, it's good to see the movie done justice with what looks like a terrifying horror game. I've been watching some gameplay footage, and the atmosphere of the game looks amazing. They've even perfectly captured the feel of the movie's "future tech as seen by the 70's" with clunky, analog technology.

I never believe any footage seen until the game is released and the footage comes from parties who have no stake in the company.
There's lots of videos of gameplay on Youtube already. They weren't afraid to show this one off to reviewers well before launch, which is always a good sign.
I think the biggest plus is it's the first game that tries to be Alien instead of the SHITLOAD of games that wanted to be Aliens.

Yeah, Sega's been really proud of this one, showing it off every chance they get. The only real complaints I've seen from reviewers is that some sections feel slow as nothing happens, but I think they're just babies that don't understand pacing and suspense.
To use the famous Hitchcock example, if a bomb goes off, that's action. But if it doesn't go off, that's suspense.

I have too many games to buy and play right now as it is. I am still playing Wasteland 2, I need to get Mordor, and Legend of Grimrock 2 comes out on the 15th.
I either need to win the lottery to afford the games and time with no work, or I have to pick and choose. Alien looks good, but I got priorities.

Ya, next game for me is probably LoG 2 as well. I should be done with Mordor completely in a few days. I might try out Dead Rising 3 in between.
Wasteland's terrible ammo optimization can wait.

79/100 on metacritic so far---which in my experience isn't bad at all, but I'm not ready to slap 50 bucks down for a game unless I know it's badass amazing.

I may rent it at some point, but I don't think it's a buy.

Just to be clear, I say it sounds like a rental because I don't think it has the level of content I want to pay $60 for. The stuff I've read about it in GameInformer sounds really interesting. I appreciate that the makers chose to create a new company instead of just using Weyland-Yutani because they wanted to expand the Aliens universe and make this more than just crappy fanfiction. The emphasis on stealth sounds great, though might be frustrating to someone like me who sometimes lacks caution in first-person games. I think it's definitely worth a look, otherwise I wouldn't even be interesting in renting it.
