That's right, ladies and gentlemen: instead of going for the obvious cash cow*, Ridley Scott has decided to make something new. And his superiors let him. His superiors at Fox.

[Insert obvious 2012 apocalypse joke here]

I think this is great news. It's not that I'm not confident that he would make a good Alien movie. My grievances are more along the lines of "Do we REALLY need to explore the origins of the Xenomorphs and the Space Jockey?" Hopefully this will turn out to be good.

* BTW, whatever happened to that Monopoly movie he was working on?

From another article about the change, the revised project may have "a script that previous rumours have outlined as featuring a female-manned spaceship crew with a distinctly lesbian atmosphere."

It's about time that Hollywood started stealing ideas from webcomics!

Well that just proves that it was ahead of it's time... although it did try to rape Arhnolds face...

I'm glad to see this. We didn't need another bad Aliens movie.

Throw me in the "wouldn't mind another Scott-helmed Alien but would greatly prefer an original movie" pool.
