DC is making it. I am legitimately looking forward to this. Comic is one of my all time favorites, and DC does good stuff with its animated production house. This one is from the guy whoo did the JL: Crisis on Two earths, which I liked quite a bit.

Known about this for awhile, but so goddamn excited.

If they're animating it in the style of Quitely it should only take 6 years to make.
DC has done some really great DTV movies lately. Green Lantern: First Flight, Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, and Justice League: The New Frontier were all FANTASTIC (still need to see Under the Red Hood and Wonder Woman). However, I'd personally like to see Superman/Shazam: First Thunder as movie.

*sigh* Forget it.

Is Bruce Timm involved?

I hope it's better then Superman/Batman: Apocalypse which while ok wasn't all that great.
That came out already? Or was it a *coughcough*rip*hrumphhrumph* copy?

Apocalypse is probably the best looking of the current batch of DC movies though. I have yet to watch it.

I didn't like the animation style they used for Superman and Batman but other than that it looked pretty good.

I've liked the DC animated movies I've seen, but I can't stop hearing the JLU/Superman/Batman TAS cartoon voices when I read the comics, so when they get big names to voice these things I feel like something's not right.

The one that just came out today, Apocalypse, has Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy and Susan Eisenberg reprising Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
But didnt have Ironsides as Darkseid, which made me sad what, was he too bust with direct to dvd movies and videogames!?
But really, I do not have a big problem with them changing up the voice actors in these movies.

Yeah, I was bummed about no Michael Ironside. His Darkseid was definitely a helluva lot more sinister than the guy they got to play him. All in all, Apocalypse kind of sucked except for the big shebang at the end, which was pretty rad. I loved how they animated the Omega beams.
I don't either when they're cast right. The guy in Under the Red Hood that did Batman was pretty damn good. The Baldwin brother in Crisis on Two Earths really, really wasn't.

Haven't had a chance to watch it, yet, since "obtaining" it, but I jumped around the movie a bit to preview it. I gotta agree with Frank; it's a shame that Ironside wasn't cast, but the guy doing Darkseid is quite good in his own ways.
Of course, it goes without saying that the casting most times is spot on, thanks to casting director Andrea Romano. She's worked with DC animations from the original Batman animated series and ever since. She just has a knack for getting the right actors for the right characters. I mean, come on, Brad Garrett as Lobo, Michael Ironside as Darkseid, Mark Hamil as Joker, Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor and (my favourite) Gilbert Godfried as Mxyzptlk? Brilliant. Of course, they all pale in comparison to getting Ed frigging Asner (the old man in Up) doing Granny Goodness (both in the old DCAU and this new movie). There's something unsettling perfect about his voice for Granny.

I really wish they would stop casting known actors as voices. I hate "hearing" a Baldwin when I should be hearing a voice I don't have a strong visual association with.

Nightwing Patrick Harris was distracting in under the red hood, which was otherwise amazing.
I literally just got done watching that and didn't realize it was NPH. Regardless, I gotta say it's probably the best DCA of Batman since Mask of the Phantasm, and possibly better.

I also found the Joker (Bender from Futurama) in red Hood to be very very good.
Yeah, I think he started to feel his role as the Joker was beginning to become like his role as Luke Skywalker: The only thing people would see him as, thus preventing him to expand as an actor... and I actually agree. He's actually done A LOT of really good voice work and most of it you'd never expect. For instance...
- The Skeleton King from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!
- Firelord/Phoenix King Ozai from Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Master Eraqus from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
- Turtle from Winnie The Pooh (Lots of stuff as this one)
- NUMEROUS roles on Metalolcalpyse
He's actually a more accomplished as a VOICE ACTOR than he ever was in films!

Huh, I didn't recognize him as bender. I liked his joker but it still had a bit of MH in it, to me. Like he wasn't trying to do an imitation but he certainly drew inspiration from it, you know?
I loved how he reacted to red hood's ultimate plan at the end there.

Really? I love John DiMaggio but I can always hear Benders voice in his work.
I thought the mix with the new york accent, the gravel in the voice, and the mark hammil he did there actually worked very very well for the character.

I got a bender for ya!

I thought it was jarring at first, but by the time it got to near the end with the whole series of jokes about taking pictures with the crowbar, I was totally digging him. John DiMaggio is a fine Joker.

He's a far superior Bender.
And if you don't think so you can bite his shiny metal ass.
Yeah, he was actually pretty good. He's no MH, but this wasn't the DCAU Joker, so that's fine.
Well I agree....only more so. The Joker from Red Hood was more a lunatic thug than a super villain, more "Dark Knight" than "Batman if you will. And DiMaggio's New Jersey accent was pretty perfect for that.
I don't either when they're cast right. The guy in Under the Red Hood that did Batman was pretty damn good. The Baldwin brother in Crisis on Two Earths really, really wasn't.
That would be Bruce Greenwood, whom you might know as Captain Pike from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek or the boss from Dinner for Schmucks. He will be reprising the role for the upcoming "Young Justice" cartoon series.
Part of me is wondering if a lot of the original comic's charm is going to be lost in translation. The trailer looks promising, but I'm kind of unsure about it.
EDIT: Didn't realize I was ninja'd. Haven't been paying close attention to the thread, aside from Shannow being his usual asshole self.

Trailer looks good but I wouldn't hold your breath for a perfect or even really close adaption.

I was surprised at first..the trailer made me think "What the...is that ed asner as lex!?" Then i realized it was a voice over and he was Perry White, which made much much more sense.

Naw.
Edit:
But the hilarity of Nick's posting habits aside, and back to point, I am really looking forward to this. The art seems like it will hold up well from the trailer, and I think they can really do a tight job with this. Willt hey hit on everything? Obviously not. But what they can hit on and will, I think will really bring about a fine movie.
