Chicago was the stopover on my way to Germany and back. On the trip that ended in my getting dumped. It's a city that brings back bad emotions for me.

Ass.

I might be down. I'll have to check my work schedule. I think I'm working most of the day, but I'm honestly not sure off the top of my head.

I'm not even in Chicago. I was just messin' with you. You, Juski, and HD should go get a pizza.

I think Juski's stuck at school this weekend--I believe they have finals next week. Unless, of course, he's willing to make a 3.5 hour drive to see the fabulousness that is me. Oh, and DD too, I guess.

Oh, I didn't know he as that far out. Well, in that case, Doomdragon, go help HD pick out a tat.

Yeah, if you were down in Central IL things might be different :p Otherwise, you came a week too early!

(Let me know of what area you are in and what bars / activities you should do in my absense :) )

I miss Chicago. It was a lovely city with fantastic pizza and architecture. Plus I'd love to see em turn that river green.

Chicago is definitely on my top list of favorite cities I've had to pleasure of visiting, though I saw very few sights and mostly a motel room the entire time I was there.....

I honestly have no idea where in Chicago I'm going to be. We're staying with a friend in Ohio, driving to Chicago for a Final Fantasy concert (Rosemont Theatre I believe?), then staying at this hotel:

5460 North River Road
Rosemont, IL
United States, 60018

Sunday is our "explore Chicago" day and I'm meeting up with another 'net friend, which is already convoluted enough BECAUSE I'M A COUNTRY BOY IN FUCKING CHICAGO but it might be neat to see a Halforumite for a bit if time allowed. :D

Chicago was terrible. No desert, shrubs, or lack of people. Everything was fucking concrete, glass, or people. Almost as bad as forests and grass.

You must be from Hawaii.

I've only been to the Chicago airport. I'll get there eventually. As for kick-ass cities, Boston was great.

I go to Boston every quarter for work. It's very cold half the time.

I got to take the family last time. Really enjoyed the Freedom Trail together...and of course introducing my wife to a cannoli from Mike's Pastry.

I went in June, so the weather was nice. I'm sure the winters aren't fun. North Boston does has some fantastic pastry shops.

I've never been to the States. Partly because international flights cost an arm and a leg, partly because I fear I would end up in argument and get beaten up for being "leftist" or "Euro trash".

My wife's cousin married a guy from your town and live there now. They come back a couple times a year and, as far as I know, he doesn't get insulted any. And that's in the south.

That doesn't help the cost issues for you though.

Only if you go south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Are you staying in that hotel on Sunday night as well? That's actually a lot closer to where I live than is downtown Chicago. Even if I am closing at work, I doubt it would be past 8:15 or so... if you wanted to grab a late dinner, let me know. I'll check my schedule tonight.

I don't see that happening either Ranger. I think at most they would roll their eyes and make some sort of pinko leftist joke. You're white so you have that going for you. You'd probably have to explain where Finland is dozens of times.

I'd meet you though. You seem laid back and can enjoy a beer. I'm open to all kinds of food so you could introduce me to a lot and I would do the same for you. I know where all the good stuff is here in Tucson. There are several people I'd meet from Halforums. I've only met a few people from the internet. The last one was a WoW guildmate that lived in Phoenix and was considering going to the university here. So she came down and a few of us took her to lunch.

Yeah. Only mostly.

And it would be for being a dirty foreigner, not either of those other things.

This winter I plan to make it to both NYC and Chicago.
Yeah, that's right, in the winter. Because I'm dumb.

Or, you know, not. I know according to Hollywood we're all a bunch of gun-toting, sister-fucking rebel flag saluting retards. But really, most people in the south would probably just shrug it off as interesting at worst. The ones who would hate you are pretty far and few between. The ones who would actually do something are even far rarer.

Aww, no. We're leaving before that I'm pretty sure. =[

But hey, where do you work? I could swing by for a few minutes and buy whatever the hell it is you're selling.

And if that doesn't work out, then damnz. Missed a chance to hang out with a Halforumite. =P

Dude, grow up and stop living in stereotypes. No one would give a flying fuck about your political views unless you purposefully went out of your way to be a dick.

Even then, we have an intolerable amount of tolerance for dicks. Look up Fred Phelps and his gang of communist cronies and wonder why we haven't lynched him yet. Or anyone who shares his views.

You should re-watch Borat and Bruno, but this time, as an examination for patience.

Damn, wish I wasn't as transient in looking at these forums as I am...

I wouldn't mind, assuming I can get out there (Spare the time and all). I live pretty much straight west of Rosemont, wouldn't be that difficult for me to get out there. Do you have any idea what your itinerary for the day will be?

You're not being serious right? You realize those movies are specifically designed to only show the worst reactions he got? He probably got months of footage for a 1 hour and 20 minute movie.

I think he meant that it took a lot on Sasha Cohen's part to get a violent reaction out of people.

Yessir. Really, if you look at it, it's almost as much about trying people's patience as it is getting that final HAHA reaction. Of course, there are plain and simple fuckheads in those movies...but there's a lot to be said about how much those people keep a straight face for the weird creepy idiot whittling them down, too.

Sorry for no response before, I barely had internet and all I had was a friend's iPhone to check and see if you'd responded with something.

Anyway, Chicago was fun, got to meet up with some other internet friends from like 12 years ago, and too bad I didn't get to see you Chicago peeps.

BUT!!

There's a SEQUEL!

My gf and I are going back to Chicago for a concert on February 2nd, so we'd probably be there the 1st-3rd if we wanna try to plan for something.

I can't guarantee meeting up won't be awkward though, what with the whole nothing-to-talk about thing. =P
