Which reminds me, Portal works fine, but L4D2 and Ep. 2 get some nasty graphical errors... now my previous nVidia card (6600 and now a 8800gtx) didn't like Source engine game either, but never like this... any ideas?

The games share the Source engine, but graphics and coding can get tweaked to need better hardware to run them smoothly. I can play Portal and Ep 2, but TF2 or L4D2? Forget it. It may not be just the video card. Sometimes a processor just doesn't have the power.

I have the same drivers that worked just fine before (260.99)... but i see win7 is telling me some new ones are out... but i don't have the games installed atm (i did need teh space, and i only noticed the problems while i wanted to test the new beta campaign before uninstalling the games).

My old rig (that was 5+ years when i got this one 3 years ago) could play L4D2, let alone this one.\

And i doubt this is from not having enough processing power:
