Apple to disable phone cameras at concerts?

Apple filed a patent some time ago suggesting technology that could be used to turn off cell phone cameras at, for instance, concerts.

Of course, such technology would eventually be hacked and soon anyone could prevent cell phones from recording riots, police action, etc.

It requires software on the cell phone, and is unlikely to be deployed, but the patent now exists, so who knows what apple will try...

Do iPhones not have an airplane mode? You'd think turning turning that on would be an easy way around it if they did try it.

Why would this even matter? Most concerts allow you to bring in "non-professional" cameras now. That is, a camera that does not have a removable lens.

I'd love to see that implemented at Comic Con. Despite repeated pleas, douchebags still record all the exclusive stuff.
