ArrowChat

Okay, I bit the bullet and purchased ArrowChat. Unlike the Shoutbox, it goes on all pages and follows you through threads, etc. So you don't have to stay on the main forum page to access it. It allows you to privately message and set up you own chat rooms. It's also FAR less resource intensive than the ShoutBox. Win/win, right?

Well not so fast. Apparently it's a pain in the ass to get it to work with XenForo. I've got a ticket open with the devs, but I have a feeling they are going to tell me that since it's a stand-alone installation (instead of an integrated one) that they will not support it. In fact, I have a feeling they are going to push me towards their "Professional Installation". I'm all for that, but the price is $80.

So here's my question.

Do I grab donations to help me pay for the $80, get my money back, or dink with it myself and pray I don't break shit?

I say try to get a few donations tosses your way.

Donations, man. A dollar from the people here would more than cover that. But many will not donate, and many will donate more, so it works out.

I for one would have a problem donating towards a product you feel you being extorted towards buying.

Part of that is that it can only be seen on one page. This would be on all pages, including threads. So if you started a chat conversation you'd still see it while surfing without a pop-out.

Could ame take a look at it? Otherwise get yo money back and accept donations anyway. We don't really need a chat thing. We have irc anyway.

I'd support this without problems with another contribution to the forums Dave. Let me know.

Though don't get fucked over because they can't make their software work easily.

Arrowchat v1.0 is supposed to have integration with XF. I bought v1.0.6. No XF integration. It requires SQL edits.

I'm giving it a bit more time before I start to get up in arms, but my ticket has sat there a bit o'time.

If the idea is a popout window, yeah. We already have IRC that costs you nothing. Any client can be that popout window.

Pretty much this.

The arrowchat website says all you have to do is upload and run the installer, if this isn't true and they won't fix it without trying to make you pay more I'd threaten to sue for false advertisement and see what they do

The first time I tried to install it it did not show XenForo as one of their out-of-the-box integrations. As I heard nothing from their devs, I attempted to reinstall and this time it was there. So I ran everything fine but I'm still getting some SQL errors.

Code:
Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/davidn/public_html/xenforo/arrowchat/admin/index.php on line 127

makare

is it the same thing fb had?

Sort of. The base theme is made to look like the fb chat, but it's not the same thing. I will be adding a different look when it's fixed.

#16

makare

that's good because the fb one is crap.

It was throwing up weird errors. So I killed it until it gets fixed.
