A rather burly 20-25 year old walked into my job just a few minutes ago and was conducting some business when his cellphone rang..... his ringtone was that communicator sound from the Power Rangers series.

(At First I Was Like) I couldn't stop laughing. This big guy, in his early 20s, must have grown up on the series and for HIM that was a "nostalgiac cool thing" to have on his ringtone so that others of his age bracket would notice it and they'd strike up conversation.

(But Then I Was Like) :tear: Young 20 year olds are now the ones who are going to be deciding what's nostalgic for this next decade. Just like we had our revamps of TMNT and Transformers, Thundercats and more. The media targeted us for their releases as we were at the financially irresponsible age that actually had income to spare. Getting near 30 now, we're going to be phased out for Power Rangers and Beetleborgs and who knows what other shows (that we found terrible). There will be "series revamps", new feature films, action figure re-releases and a whole lot more.... I dread the next 10 years.....

I don't think you have too much to worry about a Power Rangers revival.

They've been ressusstating that franchise every season with Power Ranger Overdrive, Power Rangers Wild Force, Power Rangers Ghonarea (THAT was an awkward show!), etc. They've beaten that horse more than X-Men writers have done the Jean Grey/Phoenix thing.

Of course, I'm still waiting for a Boy Meets World reunion or maybe a new Gargoyles or Reboot, but I'm sure there's a movie remake of Full House coming any minute.

... i have an urge to get that as a ring tone now...

Power Rangers RPM is supposed to be the last Rangers series we're going to be getting in the US, due to poor ratings since Dino Thunder, though Super Sentai will still be ongoing in Japan. They've already stopped showing RPM here in Ohio... but HEY, at least we got a Kamen Rider series again finally!

Gargoyles got a comic series that takes place right before the Goliath Chronicles series started (The Goliath Chronicles aren't canon anymore.) I'm not sure if it's still ongoing.

ReBoot is supposed to be getting more movies sometime soon and already has an online comic book (that's fucking hard as hell to read.)

I actually think the 80's generation has been getting the most media attention lately. We grew up in a very crucial time period. We're the Saturday Morning generation!! If there was a home that didn't have it's TV set to cartoons on any Saturday morning in the 80's that was a home without kids. We didn't have one, we had about six different stations all fighting for our freaking attention. All those shows, toys, commercials all have combined into a huge ball of Nostalgic Aweseome-Sauce. And that's not even counting the number of shows that weren't even geared for kids. 80's was the birth of cable and gave us Classic Disney Channel (before it started showing magic-marker commercials), MTV, HBO, etc. And where would gaming of all things be today without the console revolution in the early and mid 80s?
And if you haven't noticed it's starting to show now. Family Guy appeals the most to us because of it's nostalgic jokes. Transformers just had a second feature film. GI-Joe in a week. Alvin and the Chipmunks was a few years ago. Smurfs is scheduled for the next few years.

Those 90s kids get a couple of films that appeal to them on occasion of course. But usually it's something direct to video involving some kind of electric mouse.

Super Sentai is actually really cool, watched the season that had the dog guy in it, so much more badass.

I heard a rumor that Disney was thinking of just making power rangers a cartoon, so they don't have to worry about writing aroud the premade footage

That premade footage was the only reason it lasted as long as it did. It made the show cheap as hell to make every season.
