YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

*ahem* Yes, well. *straightens himself out* That is to say...I am quite pleased by this revelation.

I'd just like to point out that three of my favourite comics (Atomic Robo, Firebreather, The Goon) are all getting animated in the near future. This pleases me, greatly.

I just found a picture of Nick while he was typing his reply:

That picture is a total fabrication! I would NEVER wear something like that!

...it was a Destro mask.

I hate to be a doucher about this, but that kind of looks like newgrounds-level animation.

Which is why they only needed 12k to complete it.

While it's at a lower level, it doesn't look like the animation will detract from the story. In other words it's not bad animation, it's just simpler animation. At least the tiny bit that was shown...

I'm interested to know if the story is substantial. Scientists create an AI, the AI becomes strong, then has to fight to save the world. Straightforward. The devil is in the plot details...

Hasn't The Goon been in pre-production limbo for years now?

Sadly, yes. And I can't help wondering if a Kickstarter might help them, too.

Also, as far as the animation goes, I'd say it's above Newgrounds level. It's simple, but stylized.

My experience is that Atomic Robo stories are always pretty straightforward, but they're also always awesomely written.

My favorite story is the collection "Atomic Robo and the Shadow From Beyond Time," which involves him fighting a nonlinear enemy in different time periods

From the first issue:

From the third issue:

It's... pretty epic.

I dunno, maybe my love of the comic makes me want to see it not done half assed.

oooOOOooooh. I didn't realize it was an adaptation of existing stories. I'll have to read the free stuff to get a feel for it.

To be honest, I'm disappointed in the low-quality animation that's shown as well. The actual art is good, but the lack of movement in everything leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah, it looks like it's a brand new story for the character, but it's part of an existing comics universe. And I heartily recommend buying the comic collections. They're pretty amazing.

(And a damn impressive feat for a writer who started out making a sprite comic that ripped off Simpsons jokes.)

Animation reminds me of Venture Bros.
