The only thing that article seems to discount (and even not that entirely) is the detailed words. There doesn't seem to be any doubt that he has a normally functioning brain in the article...just whether he said what he supposedly said.

Well, I wouldn't say normally functioning is necessarily true, but yes, this casts doubts on what he presumably said. That's the only window we have into his experiences, though, so it is a big doubt to cast.
