Probably going to be holding our new baby in a day or two. Despite this being our 6th* kid, I'm having pre-delivery jitters, and just had to tell someone.
Anyway - this is a placeholder thread for likely to be soonish** cute*** newborn pictures.
*Oh, you're new here? I'm the one guy on the board with a whole pack of kids. All boys, including this new one. I'm a one trick pony in that regard.
**We're getting signs of pre-labor (ie, 4cm and painless contractions, etc)
***Ugly for those who aren't big fans of newborns. Seriously lizardlike, dude.

Congrats! I think mine is next. 20 weeks starting Monday, so we're halfway there.

Usually I'd be making clown car jokes, but I like you so congrats!
Also, we demand pictures when the little bologna loaf shows up!

Yeah, I'm expecting the "Vagina: Not a Clown Car" image macro any minute.

Seriously, congratulations! That's very exciting. Six, seems like a lot... But then again, my grandmother came from a family of twelve, so you've got a ways to go to really impress me.
So when does your TLC reality show about having a lot of kids premier?
If (when?) you have 3 more it can be "stienman and the nine men"
feel free to use that for your Indy doo wop band or your gay for pay porno.
P.s. Congrats
P.p.s. I am joking and not trying to be for realz mean. I know my sick burns can be too harsh sometimes.

One more and we can start making jokes about the Seven Brothers, the Seven Samurai, the Magnificent Seven etc.
P.s. Just kidding, man, just kidding...

I bow with respect to any woman who can push a watermelon through an opening the size of a tangerine not just once, but six times.
I salute you, Mrs Stienman.

Good luck and congratulations in advance! Remember not to yell "Hike!" it turns out that is frowned upon. The doctors always appreciate a good catcher's mitt though.

I'd make a mormon have lots of kids joke, but I'm too lazy.
Congrats, man! You're not breeding a secret work force to help you take over the world, are you?

I think you misplaced the decimal point, unless I'm missing something.
Congrats, stienman! Only three more to go before you can start your own Little League team!
The odds are actually a little better than that, since the gender split isn't 50/50. There's actually better than a 51% chance for a boy. According to this article there's about a 1.79% (1 in 55.57) chance of six boys in a row (and only 1.35% chance of six girls in a row).
I also hear that once you have a baby of a certain gender, the odds are greater that subsequent children will also be of that gender. I'm not sure if there's any legitimacy to that though.

Still no baby yet. (sigh)
But mom is in town (will be leaving again tuesday) and tomorrow our favorite midwife is scheduled to be at the hospital, so we're pushing things along today.

Man, that's the most badass-looking baby I've seen in a while. He looks like some New Jersey mobster in a massage parlour, ready to pull a gun from under him.
That is a good thing
Many congratulation, Stienman, Mrs Stienman and Tony Sopra.... I mean, Stienman Jr. #6.
We're going with Ezra, so now our kids are Grant, Hunter, Micah, Asher, Gideon, and Ezra.
As long as nothing odd happens, we'll be leaving the hospital tomorrow morning.
Chances of something odd happening (jaundice requiring treatment) are not zero, but we'll see how things go. Nothing critical, just might mean more time in the hospital for Ezra.

it's Ezra a girls name?
#86
strawman
It is more commonly a boy's name, but like Micah it is occasionally used for girls as well.
Interestingly, Ezra is a more popular boy's name than Gideon. I would have expected Ezra to be more rare.

Our female pediatrician is named Micah. She's fantastic
I've never known Ezra to be a girl's name. Also, I think it is a great name choice. In fact, I am impressed with all of your name choices, except Hunter. Tsk. Why don't you cater your naming to my whims, Stienman? WHY?
Unless I make it big, our plan is to match whatever scholarships and grants they get. We won't be able to pay for their education, but we will provide some support as long as they also show some drive and commitment to completing their education.

Saving for college is so last century. These days all the cool parents save for therapy.
Congrats stienman!

With undergrad degrees becoming as generic as high school degrees, I'm going to encourage my kids to go to state schools, which are significantly cheaper than private liberal arts universities. You still have the same opportunities post-grad. I went to a private liberal arts school, and I'm still paying off 15 grand of left-over loans after my scholarships. I like to think that because I've been through the ringer and inside-out through the world of academia, my kids are going to benefit a lot from financial loopholes that I can help guide them around. The only advice my own parents were able to provide for me when I was 18 was: "go to college - make sure it's a well known school too."
They come from an old world understanding that a Ivy League diploma equals a high paying job. While that was probably the case up to the 60's and 70's, times have dramatically changed. Anyway, I was the first generation in my family to touch and trudge through college waters, so when it came to financial shit, I didn't know where to look for extra money.
Steiny, if I makes you feel any better, I don't believe that any parent is obligated to pay for their kid's education. It's a team effort, and in the end I think the kid appreciates it a lot more if they have to pay for some part of it. That said, the real question is which is it going to be for your brood - BYU or Utah State?
What? No Sparty? I thought you were trying to save money.

Heh, no kidding. I actually don't care where they go, as long as they enjoy it, and as long as they are improving themselves. My wife and I both went there, but we're not rabid fans. Good thing, too, since the wolverines have been sucking as of late.

Amen to that. I paid for my whole damn education, undergrad and masters and I'll tell you this, in general, I took school, especially my undergrad, a hell of a lot more serious than the kids whose parents paid for everything.
