So I'm visiting my folks for the next few weeks. I wanted to introduce the Back to the Future movies to my niece. The problem? When I pop the Blu Ray into either my PS3 or Dad's Blu Ray player, it comes up to the menu, but doesn't show the menu text.
I remember hearing that the original Blu Rays for the BttF set had problems, but this is the first time I've encountered any. It worked fine on my own TV.
Help?

Clearly, you accidentally rewrote history, causing the text from the blurays to fade, before causing them to vanish from history forever.

Can you get a firmware update for either machine? If they are very old machines, or haven't been connected to the Internet and updated recently, they will start having problems with the newest blue ray discs, since the blue ray format changes and updates over time.

One was my PS3, which is definitely updated. I checked for updates for Dad's Blu Ray and it's up to date. Unless there's another way to update firmware.

This thread just got heavy.
I don't have anything helpful to contribute.

Unfortunately I don't either. If it was just one machine I'd be inclined to blame dirty optics, or cheap manufacture. If it's an older TV and this happened to other blu ray discs, it would likely have something to do with a bad HDMI cable, or a bad TV (HDCP broken or failing).
But it's one disc and two different players - strongly suggests the disc itself is bad, and you're just lucky it works in your blu ray player.

Well, it works with my PS3 on my TV at home. Or it did, last time I played it (about...a year ago? Ish?). I'll try it again when I get back.
In the meantime, I just "legally obtained" the movies.
