There was a thread made about a year ago (I know because of the similar threads we found thing) about a book club.
Is that still going on?
Does anyone want to start that up again?
I was thinking we could just make a list of people and once a month someone suggest something that we read and then talk about it if we want. There can be tea and crumpets if you want!
Really I just want to read a bit more and this seems like it might be a fun thing to do.
If you were to ask me, I'd say the way to do it would be to give everyone between 2 weeks and a month (some people are/have more time to read than others) to read the book and whoever selected the book can make a thread on it so we can discuss it.
Then the next month (or two week or three week period, whatever we decide on) the next person in line selects a book and we'll read the shit out of that and the cycle will start anew.
edit:
and as far as time goes, I think it would depend on the book. For example, The Road is only 250 pages, if I remember correctly so that would take a lot less time to read than say, Pillars of the Earth which is around 900 (there's a mini series about it coming out this month on Stars I think! eeeeeeeee!) so we'd probably want a whole month for that, maybe a little more.
so maybe whoever selects the book should also give a time frame, keeping in mind that everyone reads at different speeds.
