Book Question: What's do you call an introcudtory chapter?

What do you call a short chapter that appears at the beginning of a book that is neither a forward nor a full chapter? I know I've seen them in novels, sometimes used as a bit of foreshadowing or an introduction of the tone of the book.

Warning: this thing may have no name.
