Pretty much what the title says.

So, can anyone recommend some good books/authors? Jesus, I don't think I've read a (new) book in years.

The books on sale are fiction. So...fantasy, historical, sci-fi, suspense, whatever. Just looking on some leads for good reading for cheap.

Quite a few things jump out, but nothing that isn't something like 'book 3 of 6' where books 1&2 aren't on the cheap list.

Oh, he's like a sci-fi writer, right?

Is there anything by Isaac Asimov? Anything by Isaac Asimov will be good.

You can get Beloved there for five bucks. I'm about halfway through it right now, and it's the first time in a long time I've felt like I was reading something both really engaging and, for lack of a better word, important.

If you want good military sci-fi then anything by David Weber is great.

This book by him was very good:

Written by a super-team of three great sci-fi and fantasy authors/editors, it's a superb sci-fi story. I HIGHLY recommend it. GET THIS BOOK!

An entertaining piece of military sci-fi. Nothing really profound in it, but it's fun in the same way a good popcorn flick is. Best thing to compare it to would be Starship Troopers (the book, not the movie). Sucks though that it's two sequels aren't part of the sale, but this book can stand fine on it's own.
