"Girl Meets World" will star Cory and Topenga's daughter.

TV Line were the ones to break the news and said the Disney Channel is a likely home for the new series. They write, “Sources say that the cable network is trying to land original series stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to revisit their roles of sweethearts Cory and Topanga, who married before their ABC sitcom ended its seven-season run. The new series would center on their preteen daughter.”

...

Oh my god.

...

OH MY GOD.

I seriously grew up on this series. Those kids were almost exactly the same age as me and I related with Corey a hell of a lot, especially in his love for comics and dorky things.

I will be watching the HELL out of this.

Read: Fred Savage hasn't had much of a career since Boy Meets World ended.

Also, if it's a live action show on the Disney channel ... well, I don't know how many of you are around kids much, but the live action stuff on there is beyond atrocious. You don't see acting. You see obnoxious non-acting and mugging for the camera with a weak script and a recycled laugh track. It is a place of horrors.

Do you mean Ben Savage? I think Fred Savage was only in one or two episodes, unless he worked production on the show.

Besides Fred Savage is one of the producers of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so I think he's doing just fine.

And yet these Live-Action Disney shows go on for years and make millions hand over foot the entire time. They're horrible horrible shows but Disney knows their market today and it works. I have 3 kids pre-teen and my daughter especially watches Disney Live Action more than any other channel.

Spastic idiocy and randomness will sell to kids over the alternative. And I'm glad someone else here knows what I'm talking about. I've referenced the awful shit I've seen to others and they just stare blankly, probably because they don't have kids/don't associate with any kids.

Disney has gone the way of History/Learning Channel.

That's the best way I can put it. It used to have some seriously great content, but realized if it catered to the lowest common denominator it'd make alot more money for alot less effort. Worse? It worked.

Disney Channel live shows... I kinda dig Pair of Kings because it's not even trying to be serious and it knows it, which works well with it's setting and theme. However, the rest are kind of awful. I'll still be watching the hell out of this.

Ash Fact: I still watch Boy Meets World on ABC Family in the mornings.

Like Nick, I grew up with Boy Meets World, almost 1:1. I'd actually check out this new show.

Also, the giant red head that became Topenga's room mate in the very late season(s) became half the reason I watched that show as a teenager.

Huh, a sequel series. Neat. I wouldn't say I grew up with it, more or less saw numerous re-runs that were aired out of order and off and on saw the last season. And now I have the urge to watch them online.

If your awake for it, ABC Family does like two hours of episodes every weekday, all in order. I Think it's 8-10 am EST.

Saw this a couple days ago. Then read Disney was doing it...sigh. However, it's bringing back original cast members, so maybe renewing that chemistry can help overcome that inevitable Disney-dumbing-down. However, my biggest question here in this whole thing...

Where Feeney?

I think Disney handled the production of most of the original episodes already. It DID air on ABC and Disney's always had a rather large stake in the network. Fuck, I think One Saturday Morning was still on the network when that show was still airing.

Disney hasn't always been horrible with live action series. I remember The Famous Jett Jackson being enjoyable. (Or maybe I was just distracted by Lindy Booth).

Also, am I wrong for hoping that "Gravity Falls" means that Disney is still capable of great series, even live action?

Cory will be the "Feeny" Grade 7 teacher. Hmm. Well, I like the idea behind it. Let's try out the Feeny call.

Matthews! Ma-ma-ma-ma-Matthews! Ma-THEWS!

Hurm. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
