I'll reserve final judgment for when I see the trailer, but I have almost no hope this is going to be any good.

Huh. Buffy was never a box office hit. It was successful in that it grossed over double its cost, but that was peanuts compared to what studios want these days.
Sounds like it might be a pet project.
Alternately, they're going for a massive reboot and turning her into competition for the recent influx of teenage girl movies and/or comic book hero movies.

I really, really, REALLY hope the vampires don't sparkle.
Other than that, it'll probably just be another one of the vampire/werewolf/mummy/lich romance movies that've been way too popular recently. Sigh.
It would kinda rock if she is killing sparkling vampires.

With Joss's feature film track record, I am not surprised that he was cut out of it.

Joss Whedon wrote Toy Story, bitch.
Also, he's gonna have HUGE success with The Avengers, believe me, it's almost guaranteed even if it ends up sucking... and unless they really, really step on it this movie must be released after Avengers, no?

He worked on the script, it was not his idea, pendejo.
If this is still the same as what was being reported earlier, it's going to be a reboot based on the Buffy movie, not the TV show, and with a whole new cast. In other words, almost but not totally unlike B:tVS.
