Having no free time on my hands, I decided to fill up the little I do have with building a miniature of the Goldshire Tavern
Building the entranceway, with a strong core of polystyrene.
Adding a stone base
Undercoated and beginning to paint the walls
Painting completed on the entrance
Ceiling added and interior details. More to come soon!

Holy crap. That's impressive.

I really love how you painted the wood framing. What is your technique for that?

It's actually a very simple process....I just put a few nicks and larger grooves in the balsa with a craft knife to stop it from looking too perfect, and them undercoat the whole thing black. Then its just a matter of drybrushing on progressivly lighter layers of brown paint, ending with a extremely light dusting of white to highlight the edges.
Some more pics.
Adding a roof to the entrance and slotting it into the main building.
Closeup of the tiling on the entrance roof (Just little squares of card.)
Undercoating the roof and beginning to add detail to the main frontage. More to come tomorrow!

I always love well crafted self-made terrain and buildings, yours look great!
I especially like little details like the Adventurers Wanted poster with the rip-off notes

Very cool I really wish I had the patience for making scenery! You make it look so easy.

More pics!
Beginning to paint the frontage. I actually ended up trimming back the main horizontal beam that runs across the front from the previous shot, because I thought it looked too large.
Painted the entrance roof, adding the main roof with a row of tiles, and beginning work on one of the corner supports.
Also adding a chimney

That looks amazing already, can't wait to see it when it's finished.
These mini-gaming threads are making me want to get back into painting/playing myself.

More Tiles! Lots to go.
Finally one side finished and painted, as well as a corner support. Added some bird poop on the roof for a laugh.

Are you sure that is not the Inn in South Shore, or every other human location?

Can you put in a bunch of 80s hanging around for no good reason challenging newbies to duels?

Or some naked elves begging for cash?

Well, since it is supposed to be Goldshire, when I add the hitching post outside I'll probably put a naked female night elf dancing on top of it. Or an undead warlock ganking from the roof.
