I think he's okay because of the fact that he hit the windshield perfectly. It cushioned the blow and even distributed the kinetic energies to minimize the impact trauma. And since his fall was slowed so much, the fall didn't hurt him either.

The firetruck was actually a spot of luck there.

It is an Australian named Bruce. I'm horrible at identifying accents, so I wasn't sure until I found the original news story: Plunging 'Bruce' saved by windscreen
