Chips or Crisps

Here in Canada, we call them chips. but I know in UK English, you call them crisps, so hence why the title. So, what's your favourite chip or crisp flavour? I love dill pickle, ketchup, pizza and a bunch of Asian flavours like: Asian BBQ, Asian hotpot, Chinese marinated veggies and etc. What about you?

I have a weakness for chips.

My usual go to chips are Nacho Cheese Doritos but I also love the Takis Fuego, Ruffles Cheddar Sour Cream, and Hot and Spicy Cassava Chips.

I believe the UK calls "crisps" what we call "chips" because the UK calls "chips" what we call "fries."
No idea where the split occurs, but it's another of those interesting "across the pond"-isms.

Also, I tend to prefer plain, either wavy (for dipping) or Pringles (for snacking). Reason? I can flavor plain chips any way I want. If you want to go outside of chips, then I will usually get Cheddar Pretzel Combos, or spring for the mixed bag of Taro Chips. Mmm...

On a side note, two flavors require special mention. One was a line of hamburger chips (I don't remember the brand) that tasted like hamburger. They were awesome. They seriously tasted like you were eating the crispy outer bits of a fried hamburger, and they were delicious. The other was a cross-promoted flavor of Combos which was supposed to taste like a McDonald's Egg McMuffin, and managed to do so with eerie accuracy.

Sounds gross, but the sheer intensity of the flavor is awesome.

I am a chip connoisseur, at least that's what I tell myself when I eat like a big ass bag myself all at once.

My current favorite is Blair's Death Rain chips line, specifically the habanero and Buffalo wing flavours. They're both pretty spicy, the habanero of course being much more so than the buffalo. They have a Jolokia pepper flavour that claims to be spiciest, but I tried a bag and despite being smaller and more expensive than the habanero flavour, it was not noticeably hotter. I also really like the Old Dutch Kettle Cooked sea salt and malt vinegar. It's way more intense than, say, the Ms. Vickies version of the same flavour.

Chips are my very biggest weakness. I fucking love them.

Kettle cooked especially.

Lay's BBQ chips always reminded me of the days I spent as a child at our church's swimming pool. My parents would give me enough money for a bag of chips and a 8 oz soda. Just opening a bag of those trigger those happy memories. Then the Fuckers at Lay's changed to KC Masterpiece for about a decade, and all was lost.
