Clash of the Titans

I saw it earlier today, and boy am I glad I only paid the matinee price. It deserves a big dose of "meh." None of the supporting characters were especially likable because they hardly got any screen time; they had the life expectancy of your average Star Trek redshirt. I wouldn't recommend paying the extra money for 3D. Aside from the kraken scene there's nothing much that would make 3D graphics stand out.

However, there was ONE scene where they paid homage to the 1981 classic. That got a genuine laugh out of me.

I enjoyed it but that is because I thought it was going to be a whole lot worse hehe.
In a weird way, I might've enjoyed it a little more if it was worse. It was one of those films that wasn't truly terrible, but I can't really find much to recommend it for, either.

I agree with avoiding paying more for the 3D experience. The 3D scenes were like something out of a bad 80's 3D movie. Tossing the coin into the river and watching it skip across the water, tossing a spear to a warrior, scenes like those made it seem more hokey than amazing. And Zeus comes off at the end like the good guy which would be fine if we overlooked him raping Perseus' mother. This movie was punishment from Hades for being banished from the Heavens.

One thing I found annoying with the 3d effect was they had some shaky cam action going on. I was not center seating in my theatre and was somewhat close so it may have been just position but I hate when movies do shaky cam/motion blur action scenes in 2d it definately looks sloppy when you are pimping a movie in 3d.

Some of the 3D problems might have come from the fact that they didn't shoot this for 3D--they decided to make it 3D after it was already finished.

I guess my biggest problem with this movie is that God of War did it, does it and will continue to do it better.

I love Greek Mythology, but it's such a waste to have a "Clash of Titans" and 1) not show any real clashing of 2) any real titans.

I lost any amount of interest I had in this film when the tag line on the trailer was "Titans will clash"

Sounds like the original was better. I just wished that Hollywood of the 80's were not so heavily influenced by Star Wars. Because it seemed every sci-fi/fantasy film needed an R2-D2 analogue. I hated the frakkin' clockwork, robot owl of the original.
