Cologuard

So, hopefully this turns out to be a very short thread.

My most recent Cologaurd came back positive. These things have a base 13% false-positive rate, which goes up as you age. And other things can affect the false positive rate--evidently vitamin c supplements (which I take) and red meat (which I eat plenty of) can affect the rate. So, here's hoping that my next big post is "false positive, guys..rest easy".

Next steps: Going in for the 'gold standard' diagnostic of getting a giant tube with a camera shoved up my ass.

I once had polyps diagnosed. So I had to have a second procedure done. Turns out it was nothing. But scary? Oh yeah.

Don’t freak out until they tell you that you should.

Is it terrible that every time I see this thread I think it says "colorguard"?

Red flags everywhere!

So update: They found a few polyps. Doc says they didn't *look* cancerous, but has sent them to pathology for firm diagnosis. All looks well so far

That’s always good to hear! Was it lupus? I hear it’s always lupus.

Or something like that.
